Oh no---sorry to hear about your roos Boyd. We lost a sussex hen named Tina while we were at the fair last week. DH stopped home for a bit and found her. No idea why she passed on to the coop in the sky.

Shelleyb and MJ---wanted to let you know that Kara did awesome at the fair for her first year with the birds!!!! She got 3rd out of 20 in market turkeys, 3rd out of 22 in market roaster trio, and good old Shadow the bantam blue orp got 2nd out of 9 in their bantam division. Kara was talking to the 4-H queen, whose bird got 1st. The queen told Kara that it was very close and the judge deliberated between the two birds for quite a while before finally placing Shadow 2nd. It made Kara feel great that her bird was so good!! Kara also got 4th out of 11 in chicken showmanship. It was exciting she did so well for a beginner. She didn't place in any of her horse stuff, but they made it through the classe safe and sound. The kids baked goods all got A's and the art too.

Fowl fest would be great.
We could bring a couple tables and our lawn chairs we would be good to go

I have my 30th Class Reunion this Saturday. It seem everytime I go to a reunion the jocks are fat and the prissy women just use more makeup!!
Is it just my reunion or does this happen at anyone elses?

Each time I read of someone's child doing well in 4-H I'm heartened to know that there are still parents who take raising their children serious. Blueberrylu, offer a well done to your daughter for me, and take a bow yourself.

I wouldn't know, I haven't been to any of mine. Too far to travel to see a bunch of people I didn't care to see even when I went to school. Those I do care to see I still keep in touch with.

Congrat's for everyone. post some pics for us to see.

Its great to see kids still in 4H with all that the government has been taken away from them now. No premiums for their ribbons which I know my son loved making and learning then preforming what he learned. Then getting a check for it a month later that he has always put in his bank account.
I think it taught kids how a real job works, the better you do the better the check.

Well, I was lucky enough to get my hands on some high-quality sheep sheers from a neighbor of mine and FINALLY shaved my St bernard "Oscar". He's 2yrs old and sheds like...well...a st bernard LOL. It was funny though so I thought I'd share pics!

Behold....the aftermath in my yard!!!
