yes, old testament. (Leviticus 19...read the whole thing, not just the tattooing) because tattooing (and cutting ones skin into marks) was a way to identify what 'god' you worshiped and also the group you lived in possibly then. and in that same passage are direct, explicit directions for how a man's beard is to be cut and shaped. you never hear anyone yell that out. it's because it was all set to show the identification of being God's chosen people and belonging to that group. (at that time Jewish) but, thankfully we are new testament now, eh??? just like arguing NOT braiding your hair...the bible doesn't ACTUALLY say that, it says your beauty shouldn't come FROM it.

edited just a bit... to include a little more info properly.

From Genesis 24.:47 I asked her, Whose daughter are you? She said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bore to him. And I put the earring or nose ring on her face and the bracelets on her arms.

Abraham had sent his best servant to find a wife for his son....we all know her name well....Rebekah....

hey, if that was the way to lock that down, man, i'm in on that! that was a major set up! God sent her right to him! nice!

Yeah!! Look for those dark eye and head markings, those are the girls, the ones that are clearly defined. The boys are a little less defined and don't see as dark, nor do they have as distinct eye markings. You can post pictures or send them to me if you would like. Sam (Opa) helped me figure it out!!

Vicki, I thought I would let you know that I think I can safely say that they are all girls. You did good!

While I have about umteen different kinds of birds I still think I like my welsummers the best. Gentle, quiet, even the rooster fairly quiet. Plus you'd be hard pressed to find a bird that lays a nicer egg.

Not yet and I have a Andalusian Rooster with a huge comb. My other barn I just converted into a chicken house, the water in there hasnt even frozen yet. Just a thin glaze of ice on the top of the water buckets and the chickens just pick at it and break through. So Im thinking about putting my Andy in there so his comb doesnt get frost bite.

OOpsy - I kept my Andalusian roo's comb from freezing by putting Vaseline on it, often. Even then, it did get a tad crispy on the tippy-tips.

I am afraid that this week will test our winter preparedness.

Ive got japs and I have babies born in September. They look like they are starting to get frost bit. Their waters have frozen but not to where I have to change their waterers. I put vaseline on them every night and i have heat lamps on them.
