OK, so here I am taking advantage of everybody's wonderfullness again.... This is the Silkie we got from Shelley at Chickenstock. Can any of you tell if it's a male or female? I'm really leaning towards a pullet..... but I always second guess myself.

I think that's a boy. He has streamers on his head like ours does. We got ours at chickenstock also, from Shelley.

Bluemoon

I'll try and get a picture of him when I head out there.

I'm getting geared up to go outside now. He'll try and mate with the big girls too.

Ours had tried once, and only once. The big girl in question was having none of it. He now just sticks with the girl silkie although she wasn't happy about it either.

Welcome SillyChicken. You aren't kidding about snuggled away quietly, I've lived in Michigan for over 60 years and this is the first time I've heard of it. I'm glad you have found us and hope to meet you at Chickenstock in June.

Kathy, my brother in law has 3 geese and several ducks in with his chickens. He has had them for a few years.

HBH - thanks! Would you mind taking a look at my page and telling me if my penned in area is comparable in size to what your brother in law may have? I'm hoping I have enough room in the pen to incorporate 2 or 3.....

Kathy, I just checked out your site and you have a pretty nice set up.

I can't tell how big it is but I think it looks about the same size as my BIL's. He also has a kiddie pool in the run for the ducks and geese. He lets them free range also whenever possible. He also had a lot of chickens at one time because he had Phoenix's that went broody and hatched too many babies. He got rid of most of his chickens so now they aren't so crowded. Are you able to let yours free range at all?
