I can't wait to see how many hatch. 4 eggs under her and 1 peep so far. One egg did get put under her a day earlier than the other 3. The other 3 eggs will be day 21 tomorrow.

Good Morning!

One less opossum in our area! Hoping if we keep trapping them this winter, they won't be a problem when the weather gets warmer!

Waiting for the kids to finish up chores so we can start school.

Enjoy the snow! I am hoping it is the last one for the season

Woolychicken!! Glad you found us! Been living in MI for quite some time now, but I don't know where the mushroom capital is.

Now the work begins. Have to shovel out the chicken run. You are right, Sam, very wet and heavy snow. This is not going to be fun. Well, enjoy your day!

to Woolychicken, glad you could join us. Be sure to check out the link in mine or Opa's signature for the upcoming Chickenstock. We would be glad to see you there.
Briana, congrats on the new peep. I hope you will post pics when you can.

Good morning all and welcome Marethre, bjengel and Woolychicken. I just noticed that my logo over my avatar no longer says “New Egg”. I suddenly got the urge to Peep, Wow.

briana1975 those are some beautiful turkeys.

First baby made a short appearance and I got a picture. To my suprise it has the markings like my grey silkies did but on yellow fluff and feathered legs. I guess my little silkie roo is hitting the right spot. He will have to get sperated this spring.

Good morning everyone

Welcome to BYC all new comers. This is such a great place to be.

Your new baby is soooo cute. I can hardly wait for mine to come.

Most of you know I have Gabby in the house. Well I have a question. Yesterday, all day, she ran all around the house, upstairs, everywhere. She seemed frantically searching for the perfect place to lay her egg. She kept going back to her favorite places. She would squat, settle down, then freak out and go somewhere else. Finally I put a towel in a milk crate in a closet behind the vacum. She laid her egg there. Is all of this a sign that she is havig trouble passing the egg, its much bigger than her sisters. If she is having trouble can I do anything to help her? what do I watch for if there is a real problem? Or could she be getting broody? And if she is does anyone have any fertilized eggs I can buy so she can have them. And if she does hatch them will folks take them off my hands?

Thanks so much everyone, it really was sad seeing her so upset.

Susanne

Susanne, it doesn't sound like she is having trouble laying. If she was you would witness actual distress and she wouldn't be running around. When a hen goes broody they stay in the nest box and squawk in protest when you try to remove them.
