Yaklady...Beautiful baby

I have some friends who are spinners. I can spin, but I'm not nearly as good as they are.

Shelley... They are adorable.

I love the second one! I would take some if I could, but we have chicks coming on the 1st I think. I should have blue JG eggs from Wynette soon too.

I got my package from cutler supply yesterday.

I got a new liner for the hovabator that we scored on craigs list. A nice accurate thermometer, and an egg turner. I may stick in some silkie eggs with the JG when they are ready.

Mrs. Fluffy is finally laying.

My neighbors absolutely adore her.

I let the teenaged chicks out to play in our chicken tractor yesterday. They loved it. I may have some roo's to rehom if anyone is interested. I know I have at least two. There are two more it's still up in the air. One week we think male, then the next week we think female. So we just have to wait and see with those.

I have one female that I've already named Lily. She's one of the welsummer/BCM crosses. She's gorgeous, and I hope to get more of her. What confuses me about her is this. She has no wattles at all. Now both our Roo's have very large wattles, so how she has none is beyond me. I know the father is Houdini the olive egger. She has a pea comb, but both her welsummer mother, and Houdini have HUGE wattles. So, I'm not sure how that's happened.

Anyway, I'm hoping to hatch more of her. She has the lacing on her feathers like a welsummer, but she is blue, and a very light red coloring, with a white face. I'll try to snap some photos of her when they get outside again.

So, at least I got the grow out pen cleaned yesterday, and the uber brooder is almost ready for the new chicks coming next week.

I hope everyone has a good day!

I made the same mistake twice.

I do endurance riding with my 1/2 Arab and I saw in the directory that someone was from Bangor. I thought the same thing! Turns out, she lives near Lake Michigan, not Lake Huron.

A year later, "Oh, you live in Sand Lake! I work sometimes in Tawas!"

"Tawas? Where's that?"

"Y'know, right on Lake Huron, a little southeast of you in Sand Lake." Blank expression. "Iosco county?"

"No. I live near Grand Rapids."

Turns out there's TWO Sand Lakes in Michigan.

Who woulda thought, with all the sand and lakes that TWO communities would have that name?

I am with you on the Sand Lake thing, been to the one by Lake Michigan never over by Lake Huron.

Speaking of lakes, we are back to the basics with camping which means a tent, and looking for some ideas of campgrounds that have electricty at site and CLEAN bathrooms. We have had a camper the last 6 years with our own bathroom so it wasn't an issue before. We love camping but I would rather really rough it and dig a hole than go somewhere that has gross bathrooms. But the boys want somewhere with a pool to swim. I thought word of mouth is best. Anybody got some ideas?

Briana1975....

I am an avid roughing it camper.

There was a place we went to near Traverse City. ( I'm looking up the link now) It was modren for my taste, but it was very nice. They had clean bathrooms, pool, and some fresh water swimming too. They also had cabin rentals. They were very nice.

Here's a KOA one. KOA campgrounds are a good place to start looking

I'm still looking for the other place we stayed at, bear with me. It was an old Yogi Bear campground someone took over. It was nice

Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to computers I felt pretty good to accomplish what I have managed to finally get on View My BYC Page. I designed a poster for our Chickenstock but I couldn't fiqure out how to make it available to you except through the my page feature. I've printed it out to check and you'll have to do a little trimming but you'll have a reminder poster to hang on your refrigerator or better still hang in your feed store.

Vicki, A friend told me about sleepy hollow. I don't think that's too far from us, and interested in checking that place out. They will take tents?

I'll be setting eggs with my DD class April 22 and I'm looking for some local (Brighton, Howell, Novi area) hatching eggs. I love my own little mutts I hatched out but I can't even give them away and I certainly don't need to keep 20 plus chicks (but they'll be ready for chickenstock)!!! I'm willing to pay for them I just want to increase the chances for these kids to have a successful hatch. Also, if anyone has any good advice about doing this with a class of 1st-4th graders I'd appreciate it!

Actually I did mention it to DH today. I don't think he will care.
