Had a bit of a panic last night. Our power outage from Friday night messed up my Genesis 1588. I went to candle eggs, they were hardly warm, temp was down to 85. We lost 19 of the 40 eggs. We figured using the generator messed up the electronics. So I went online and got info (thinking it was broken) for resetting it to factory settings and it worked! So now I have a gazillion eggs to set today. Bantam White Rocks and Cochins, mostly. There are a couple Wheaten Ameraucanas. Anyway, the point is if you have one of their incubators, their website is really helpful.

Have a great day, everyone! Off to build more pens!

Morning Gang....It seems to me I've seen a portable coop made out of PVC pipe and chicken wire that someone has made....I'd like to make one tomorrow and have the girls do some garden work for me...anyone have pics or a link? Thanks!

I don't have any pictures, but we built one out of PVC (the gray stuff is cheaper yet, I think). We built a rectangle with top & bottom rails, used zip ties to attach the hardware cloth. We use it for a semi-permanent pen, so sink some steel posts at the corners (zip tied to pen) to keep it from blowing over. That is the only problem we have had with it. Throw a bird net over the top and you're good to go. Originally we built a tent shaped top on it, but it was completely useless, so took it off and just zip tie bird netting over the top.

Thanks so much for the information - any possibility you could post a picture? I'm visual learner!

Turned out to be a crappy day yesterday. Cold and windy. The rain stopped but continued to be misty. Ended up to go see a movie to pass the time. Windy today, but warmer and the sun is out!!!

Vicki, the goose is doing good. Settled right in. Kristin will be sure to spoil her like she's done with all her birds.
Have a good day all!

You need a picture of a chicken tractor so I'm happy to oblige.

If that doesn't work out for you, I could let you borrow my yard crew.

We had to block off the driveway to keep the yard crew in, but that was easy enough to do:

"What is the small human thing doing? He's making me dizzy." Larry's head was going back and forth as he watched Amon swing. It was too funny!

We got the garden ready to go this weekend and planted some potatoes!

And...as if we're not crazy enough...we ordered a beehive and some bees. When the bees arrive, I'm sure my DH will take pics of me in my beesuit, putting the bees in their new home.

Good Morning!

For the arsenic in the well. My husband owns a water softener company and he installs units that removes the arsenic from the water. Just a thought. We are located in Howell MI (1/2 mile or so from Opa) and we do travel outside of the county. Wylie Soft Water: 517-546-1990.

Rachel is all excited about her new pullets. She didn't place in showmanship but came home with best junior ameracuana. Her prize was a nice plate and $5.

Rachel is selling some of her bantams as she is wanting to switch the breed she is breeding and selling to Old English Game.

For Sale:

2 Lavender Ameracana roosters- 3 years old
3 Lavender Ameracana hens- 3 years old

1 Black Ameracana rooster- 1 year old
3 Black Ameracana hens- 1year old

2 pullets from Opa's stock- 1 black orpington and 1 cross(a splash color)

We also have for sale some 3 week old chicks, but not sure of the breeds yet. I am planning on bringing them to Chickenstock.

Talk to you all soon!
Sarah
