Boyd, you and your family are in my thoughts. Modern medicine has afforded us many miracles, but one thing a friend told me that had a very premature baby (born and 28 weeks) don't forget your instinct as a parent. Her son is healthy and doing great!

I'm starting the search for a Border Collie Pup, if anyone knows of a good breeder in the area can you let me know. My guy is starting to get old, almost 12, and beginning to slow down. I will miss him terribly. I would like him to help me raise a new pup while he is still up to the challenge. He is awfully good at making sure puppies stay in line!

I have a lady showing up to purchase my daughter's 3 year old hens in a little bit. The Lansing Post Office just called and my 40 meat birds are waiting for me. So after we get birds sold, and cages cleaned, birds rearranged, and kids in bed, I will be taking off to the post office.

I am always amazed cause my friend lives in Stockbridge, we order from the same company and day, hers shows up on Thursday morning and I get a call Thursday night, saying I can drive to Lansing or wait til Friday morning for my post office.

Glad that today turned out to be such a nice day!

Sarah

Good Morning!

The meat chicks are settled in nicely and doing well this morning. The 3 week old mystery chicks are doing ok in their new coop- totally scared of the crowing and quacking from the other side of their pen.

I should go and bike. My friend isn't feeling well so we aren't getting together to exersice. Chores are done and my bed is calling my name

I need to go to the coop at 8am when they open to get an assortment of feed.

Have a great day!

Good Morning All!
Prayers for Boyd for a healthy delivery. My son was born six weeks early. he spent fifteen days in the NICU, he started out at four pounds fourteen ounces but is now 17, 200 pounds and 6'2". Wears a size 12 shoe. lol.
My brother is going to the hospital right now to have a baby (okay, his wife is). They are inducing her, she is three weeks early but they say its time. Mom has diabetes and baby is big.

I took pictures of the ducklings- I will post them in the duck thread. Perhaps someone can tell me what I got (off Craigslist).

If you get a chance to go to the DeYoung Zoo which is like an hour from Escanaba take it. They are the top small zoo in the U.S.A. They are making a weekly national Geographic show on them. They are even getting a baby Hippo this year.

I've been out of touch for a while, and just signed on to find a PM letting me know about Baby Boyd. Has anyone heard anything? Hope all is well. My oldest was also 5 weeks early. I took her home from the hospital the next day-just a little jaundiced. She's now 18 and taller than me.

I let my ducks out every morning to go play in the creek for the day. Since I've been hatching them out, I've had 22 juveniles who were recently old enough to join the adult breeders. Yesterday evening, my husband and I were outside and heard my two Pekin hens raising heck. A couple of minutes later, I saw the whole gang in their little parade up to the pen to be put away. They do this every evening, so I didn't think much of it. I always count them while they are walking, and quickly saw that my breeder drake and three juveniles were missing. I spent the next hour walking the length of the creek and searching the surrounding areas. I couldn't find a trace of them. The drake would never have left the rest of them, so I have to assume that something got them. There are no footprints, no feathers, blood...nothing. I'm guessing that something went after the younger ones and he ran in to protect them. What could have taken four ducks in broad daylight, with two humans close by, without leaving a trace?

Do you have eagles down that way? We often see two adults -- I assume mom and dad -- with a juvenile or two all together. If each bird took one duck... I don't think duck is their first choice of a meal but up here, when the fishing is hard to come by they'll eat right alongside the buzzards in the fields.

Does anyone know of a place in Lansing that carries Food Grade DE? Our local mill can't get it anymore.

I was just reading the food thread for Chickenstock this weekend and everything looks so good. I wish we could make it. We'll only be a few miles away, but otherwise engaged.
