Thank you Briana and Hillbilly Hen! I am trying not to stress out, and I am trying not to feel betrayed by my own body- I have too much to do to be held back..lol.

Vicki!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you! I posted on that ad, I will make the drive and collect if she keeps them for me until Saturday.

Kate!
It is going to be rough on the cayugas to be locked up at night until they get used to it- here, predators havent been an issue, as their yard is double-fenced and I gave away the dogs that were killers- so the ducks stayed next to the coop, by the inside corner of the house under a bush at night. They will adjust! I trust it wont be long before Psyduck equates seeing you with food and starts her loud quack! I put down half a watermelon this evening and was amazed how fast the ducks devoured it down to just the skin. I should have video'd it.

All my chickens are good at going to bed....especially when the mama BR's have to round them up! lol. I think the cayugas were enjoying having the chicken run to themselves after everyone went in the coop. Then I wondered if they would know to go in there? I debated for a little while about putting them in there or letting them try to go in there themselves. We waited for a little while. A few times they walked up to the entrance and kinda looked in but didn't seem interested. So Aric picked them up and put them in there and it's been quiet!

We would make a lean-to or something and leave them out, but we have coyotes and huge coons out here!

My hope is after a few nights they will get the hang of it, just in time to move everyone into the garage at night lol

I won't move out of the boondocks either. We are pretty far out at least 30 to 40 mins from most BIG towns. Maybee is only 8 mins away but it is still considered a village and just this past year put it's first red blinking 4 way stop light in. I am suprised you don't have a Trader Joes in Lansing.

Hi Vicki,
Do you still have any Welsummer hens available? They lay pretty dark eggs, don't they? That would be fun, as we like to have an assortment of egg colors. I'm in the center of Eaton County, and I think you weren't all that far, but I don't remember the particulars.
thanks,

OK, so we went to the Trader Joe's in Northville. I was SEVERELY disappointed! OMGoodness!! Not only was it a TINY store with very little selection but they didn't even have fertile eggs!! GAAHHHHH!!! I'll take Whole Foods ANY day over that place. They did have a decent goat cheese selection though. I guess I'll just have to take a guess with our eggs whenever I get my incubator in (crossing my fingers, hoping it comes in tomorrow) and put some of my eggs in there. My rooster is about 5.5 mos old. I'm not sure whether or not he's making any slam dunks with the ladies. I've been opening them up and checking the yolks for the disks and so far I've only seen one. Errr.. Things just aren't going my way lately.

What exactly is Trader Joe's anyway? I looked on the website and didn't see much!

We're talking about just buying some eggs about to hatch on ebay or something. Not sure yet.

It's just a small grocery store, smaller than a Feldpausch even, that has all natural organic sort of foods. The one I went to was about five to six aisles and the prices had some NICE mark-ups on them! LOL To me, it seemed like it was just all hype. Whole Foods and Foods for Living all the way.

I hope my rooster gets better at the mating bc I want to hatch some chicks! I don't see him tagging them as much as I'd like to, maybe he's just gun shy around me? I don't think I'm going to hatch any ducklings till next year, those eggs are just too small.

Did you see pics of my cayugas? They're male and female. Maybe....also, not sure of the sex of my calls yet, but it's looking like they might all be female.

Silkies are getting funny. One is definitely laying. I think there's two males and two females. One cracked me up though. "He" was literally running around imitating the cayugas!! He sounded exactly like them. It was a sound I had never heard come out of a chicken before!! LOL

Plus I have those 4 BR and 4 Aracana x RIR chicks. Who knows what those will turn out to be! We're making plans right now to open up the garage for everyone. There's plenty of room for all of them (even with the cayugas!) in the coop, but we're gonna section off a huge part of the garage, then section another part just for layers. Tomorrow I'm gonna begin putting all the aged females in the duck run to feed them separately to make sure they're getting enough calcium. But, we're getting about 10-12 eggs a week!

I still wanna find a few more layers! If you see any let me know...unless you snatch them up lol

So, it's settled. My daughter and I are big on names for animals around here. The cayugas came in with the names Psyduck (female) and Opie (male). We liked Opie, it seems to fit him. Psyduck however (no offense Kim!) just didn't seem to fit. So, she is now Sadie!

Now if only the calls would get a little bit bigger so we could settle on their names! They're either gonna be Olivia (Oliver), Louie (Lucy) and Daisy and haven't come up with a male version.

Poor chickens don't really have names. The little serama rooster is Pretty Boy because he walks around like he's all that. The RIR is just Red and all the BR females are mama or ladies lol. No one else has names yet!

Well, hope everyone had a great Sunday and will have a good Monday. It's supposed to be another HOT one!! The heat is giving me horrible headaches! It's days like this makes ya wish you were a duck and spend all day in the water, huh? lol
