I took a look and found that Silkies will lay cream colored eggs, which is about the color of the egg I have. I had always read that they laid white eggs so I didn't even think about it.

Silly me. Now to figure out which one, although I will have to guess that it was our white one Shmoo.

Thanks! I picked up some more vet wrap and I'm gonna try it again. This time I'm not going to let her go out with the others and see if it works. I want to be able to keep a better eye on her and make sure it stays on. Not that I don't see them all day long but I also want to make sure it doesn't get wet!

Well, what an adventure that was! But, poor little Daisy is now all wrapped up and finally resting!

After being held down, she got some mama lovin' like she did almost daily when she was a little baby which really comforted her

She then jumped out of my hands onto the computer desk. I guess she wanted to make sure she didn't miss any messages

She was really liking the attention, she didn't want to leave my lap

Hopefully this works. I feel so bad for her!

HH, He's beautiful. Sounds like you have a big surgery coming up and I'll pray for you everyday. Maybe they can do it thru the laparscope and it will be much easier on you. Keep the faith.

Thanks eleanorkay. I am trying to keep my spirits up, just got to feeling a little down the other day beacuse the meds are making me so ill. I have decided to not let it get to me... it is what it is and I know there are worse things in the world.

The roo is a sweetie, he is a delaware after all, but I have 2. I was going to keep him in case something were to happen to the main roo but I have plans to get down to 19 hens and with the welsummer and the older delaware it would not be good for the girls to have the third guy there.

All our animals are spoiled, but especially the ducks! I've had them since they were 8 days old and kept a very close eye on them all day long. I hadn't held little Daisy in a while, and even though she didn't wanna get caught, once I did she nudged right into my neck like she always did. Especially after the trauma of being wrapped. I took the wrap off for the night and she seems more relaxed now.

Coffee is hot and it looks like we're going to have a pretty reasonable day. Got the chicken coops cleaned yesterday and the electric fence relocated. The girls sure seemed to appreciate the new green area.

I have have one welsummer hen that hatched 5/2/08 and she has a leg band. A second bird hatched 6/2/09 and the rest hatched March 30th of this year. Since the newest are just about the same size as the others I figured I better band last years bird. When I was placing the band around her leg I noticed a large knot between two of her toes. I palpated it slightly and a small amount of sebaceous fluid came out the top. I squeezed slightly harder from the edges and a hard core about 3/8" long and 1/8" diameter shot out. I couldn't determine what it was but I thinking perhaps a variation of bumblefoot.
