I need some advice- there is something wrong with my "naked" chickens feet.

The chickens and ducks were out in the yard today, enjoying the mud and the muck and I got some pictures.

Her feet are white, and scaly, and one was bleeding in one spot. Not alot, just between the toes. I feel really bad for her.
This is her, my crowing hen-

A close up of her foot, but it got blurry- sorry. I tried.

Goofy Frizzly hiding behind a bush. Cant see her. I am assuming her feet are fine though. The ducks are.

Along with my pullets starting to lay, SOMEONE has been laying gigantic green/blue eggs behind the nesting box. I don't think it's my newer EE pullet though, too huge. The egg is well over 3oz. Could it be one of the older hens that somehow forgot where she should put her eggs?? I don't think it's my newer EE bc her comb isn't that red at all and this egg is HUGE! lol

Also, I've thought of another way to repurpose my newspaper/junk mail. I've decided to try shredding them all and using them for nesting material and then composting it for my huge garden I'm going to have this summer. Has anyone tried this?? I've been reading up on it here and it seems like people either love it or hate it. I hope it works out bc I ordered a paper shredder off Amazon!! I thought it was a good way to recycle AND guard against identity theft, no one wants to sort through poo-mail.

That could be scale. Not for sure since I have never had to deal with it yet. I believe you can treat legs with vaseline. I think it is a critter thats crawls under the scales on the chickens legs. Just MHO.

I'm a newbie here and in Oscdoda, MI. Anyone else in my neck of the woods?

I am thinking of some backyard layers and wondered how the local township feels about that.

I'll probably check with them next week; just thought someone might already know.

Similar to scaly leg mites that canaries and parakeets can get? *sigh*
Vaseline? Does vaseline freeze? I can put it on her legs- I will have to snatch her up off her roost in the dark. Should I soak them? If I am gonna *torture* her by picking her up, I may as well do whatever I can at one time.
