Thank you for the birthday wishes! Quackers will come with Penguin. She was originally Jax' 'woman' but Penguin stole her fair and square, and they are inseperable. She doesnt care that she is not a scovie- and she lays an egg every day. Then Blanche as well- she also belongs to Penquin. She is scovy and she lays daily as well. I didnt know which scovies were laying, but today I caught her in the act. She is my rebel who lays UNDER the rabbit hutch. The others are laying inside the hutch,but she made herself a nest underneath.

I pulled the infertile duck eggs out from under my broody frizzle. I replaced them with the O-shamo's that are fertile and growing. They are due to hatch next Friday. I candled the duck eggs- one was fertile and growing. I put it in my incubator. I have no idea what now. Somehow I did it to myself again and I have eggs due to hatch on friday (frizzle) and on the following Wednesday, Tuesday and Wednesday..then IF this is a muscovy egg it will be due on the 26th. If it is a mix, then the 21st is a due date. There should be chicks somewhere to stick the duck with if it hatches, anyhow...i do NOT need to go to TSC...do not need to.....do not need to....

I agree with animal therapy though, been spending my extra time with my critters too, it sure helps. So not looking forward to tomorrow.

Going to need a lot of animal therapy after the memorial.

Aric was standing over me when I first started reading that. I looked at him waiting for an "Oh hell no, just ONE!" but I didn't get it. Then I said "Egg layers" and he says "Oh yeah, that's real cool!". Whew, I can breathe now!

Can I have O-shamo too??

Some day I need to get an incubator. I might have a job working from home which will allow me to get one, but til then...

This is the best week I've had in a while. Satellite tv today (no more hillbilly cable

) and ducks on Sunday!!!!

My neighbor next door has gone insane, and his wife is trying to divorce him but he wont move- which makes the police around here constantly, my other neighbor on the other side is leaving her husband on Saturday- wont be long before he gets evicted and they start cleaning up that house to have new people move in, the people behind me lost their house to foreclosure so the bank and Realtor will be all over that soon- I have to downsize and CONCEAL what illegals I have here. I have to go into STEALTH mode. I wish I had tall tall bushes to plant along the back fence- I wish I could buy them already six foot tall and plant them. They cost SOOOO much though...

My husband, the enabler, said "four chickens and four ducks- that seems like a good number...heh heh heh..." PLUS- I need to find some white homing pigeons. Vicki got me that one pigeon last year that ran off with the neighborhood riffraff, and my lonely homer has a nest and coos at the chickens all day long trying so hard to have a girlfriend...

I just said to Aric I was surprised he didn't go crazy when I said 2 extra ducks. He said "Do I have a choice?" and smiled LOL

Now all I need to do is get with Vicki about that rabbit and find some pullets and I'm all good. Oh yeah, and get rid of some roos. That's not so easy though.

Good morning chicken lovers!
Yesterday on craigslist...found a 6 foot tall, 3 sided kennel enclosure with gate...perfect for the new chicken coop I'll be getting when snow is gone. I was really happy to find one up here. Still looking for some cheap windows to use when we convert the new shed into a coop.
Glad the countdown is at 28 but it is sounding like snow is coming in the next few days.....hoping the weathermen are just wrong!
