I can't believe that it's raining again.
I took the 3 BO's and 3 BSL's outside today. They are 4 weeks old and have flight feathers. I'm trying to integrate the older (8 wk) chicks and them. They are seperate but can see each other. My leghorn roos found a way into the little ones run but were pretty calm about the introduction. It was an interesting observation. The ducks came and made a bunch of noise and the roos left the little ones alone.
Now that it is dark, the chickens are all tucked into their coops and the ducks are still in the pond. I guess I have to round up those silly ducks again and put them to bed in the warm. dry coop.

Today was such a fun day! Aric laid out plans for expansions (will take all summer!), we spent all day outside doing this or that, I sold more eggs and spent a lot of time with the pot belly pig Bella. I even got an email from someone in Texas and someone else wanting me to ship them eggs for hatching!

So we've spent a month trying to get friendly with Bella. She's always acted like she wanted us to pet her but seemed afraid. It was like she finally decided we weren't so bad after all. Aric was able to pet her first. He got a hold of her chin and rubbed it and she kept backing up, but like a dog, as soon as he stopped, she came in for more. She let me for a few minutes, but Aric scratches harder so she would keep going to him. That was yesterday. Today as soon as she saw us she was sticking her nose through the wire and moaning. Every time she saw us today she did that, so one of us would stop and scratch her. Now when we scratch her she will immediately lay down, again like a dog wanting her belly scratched.

I took two videos

Aric petting Bella

This one is hilarious. Watch to the end, you'll hear Bella and Aric talking back and forth!

My first born duckling (cayuga) is about to come out any second....almost 48 hours to the hour after it first pipped. I don't think I'll be sleeping anytime soon! 6 more are pipped!!!!!!

Keyt, tell Aric you have to keep two- everyone knows that a lone duckling is too lonely and loud and makes for a miserable brooding experience... lol.

I hope you wake up to many hatched.

Good Morning everyone!

My husband and my youngest daughter have left for a day at the lake fishing and swimming. My brother in law lives by MIS in Brooklyn and thats where they are headed.

Ive been building a retaining wall in my back yard- and I need about sixty more bricks...I have teenage labor here, so I intend to use it fully this a.m.

Happy Day to you all.

Morning all.

Glad it rained last night so I don't have to water wanything today.

Schools almost out and I'm going to start some house projects: new screen door, new sliding glass door, redecorating the porch and the ongoing battle against clutter, plus trying to organize the garage.

If anyone wants some craft wood (wrapped in plastic wrap, all you'd have to do is put a finish on it, paint it or leave it unfinished and add hardware to make coat racks and key racks) let me know. I can ship it out to you.

Also, my bantams keep roosting in the trees at night. Any advice to try and get them in at night? They're high enough in the tree so the broom can't reach them. Also, they're hard to catch to clip their wings, or should I let them roam somewhat feral this summer?

Working on that!! lol

Another one that I believe is one of Jax's babies is poking through. The first one took a little over 48 hours. The waiting is killing me. I feel sorry for the first baby in brooder by himself!!!
