so sorry to hear of your bad news. Darn coons anyhoo!! I'll glad give you a free Buff Chantecler rooster, but I don't know where Durand is. Let's meet half way, I do NOT need two of them. I know you'll love him, I've posted photos, but you can probably see them on one of my pages. So sorry for the loss.

Hey there ChicwannaB,
Thank you very much for the offer, it sounds like an attractive bird. I am going to respectfully pass at this time though, my wife and I are going to rebuild slowly and selectively. If we get a rooster this time, it will be for stud service and it has to be the correct breed. Thank you again.

I'm new to the Michigan thread, thanks for the invite Chickmate. I'm from way up north about 10 miles south of Mackinaw City - we have a scenic view of the bridge only from the chicken coop! I have 35 chickens (11 different breeds) and 4 guineas. Super busy with the garden that disappeared into the weeds, yard work as in finally getting one, and to top it off discovered yesterday the chickens have Northern fowl mites that I am dealing with today with a complete coop cleaning and bird dusting. Summers in Michigan are way to short and busy. Hope to learn a bit more about all of you as I read more!

KaZ, I once had an individual call and ask how much would I charge to install crown molding around a couple of rooms. I told him $2 per lineal foot to which he exclaim was too much money and hung up. A couple of days he called back and said I should plan on doing it. When I told him that we were 16 weeks out he complained no one could be that busy. I assured him that we were and he opted not to wait. A month goes by and he calls asking when could we do his job and I explained that due to jobs being accepted we were now about 18 weeks out. He grumbles but tells me to put him on our schedule. About a month later he calls and explains that he would really like to go with us but he had a carpenter that could start on Monday. If we could get it done before Monday we could have the job. Of course I declined. A couple of weeks go by and he calls asking what I would charge to "tune up" the miters on his molding. Not certain what he meant I asked and he explained that the other carpenter had done a really quick fast job and it looked nice, but his wife wasn't happy with the visible gaps in the molding. He no longer needed us to hang the molding just tune up the gapping inside and outside corners. I told him that if he bought all new molding and took down the molding the price would be the same as priviously quoted. He kept asking why when all the hard work had already be done by the other carpenter.

I'm jealous of you folks who are getting eggs. My girls are only 14 weeks so I have some waiting to do.
On the other hand, I still have some time to get the nest boxes built and located in a good spot.

But then again, I am a lazy procrastinator, so it might not get done before school starts in 4 weeks.

Sounds like my first crown moulding job, Opa. Walls and ceiling were not square and I had gaps big enough for barn swallows to nest in.

At least I practiced my "art" on my own home. People would ask me why I had crown moulding in my garage. I always practice first on my own things to get better before I do a paying customer's job.

"I cut this board twice and it's still too short!"
