Not yet. Working late today and I keep my email turned off while working to reduce distraction, just wrapped up when I logged on here and haven't checked email yet. I'll go do that now.

M. Sue, my Mom really does feel awful. We both didn't expect it to happen, but when two female dogs decide to spar, they really go at it.

Thank you for all the well wishes. I am dropping her off at the clinic at 7am and will be anxious for good news. At least the painkillers have helped her, she can actually rest rather than sit and shake.

I finally found my leghorns new hidey-hole. She's always liked to pop in and out of their pen area, but I usually always knew where she was nesting. Lately, I've been stumped as to where she was going, but I got her today. And lo and behold, there were 15 eggs in it! What? It's been that long since I found her last stash? Well, at least the piggies will be happy with their egg fortified breakfast tomorrow.

In the old area that was set up for the banties I have. She likes to hang with the banties (they free range) and pals around with our red pyle roo, Gomer. We recently moved the banties set-up to the other side of the house so she stopped laying there. I found her new nest behind their new area just past where we mow in the tall grass. I barely saw her head peeking through.​

Last night we had choir practice and got home at 9pm. I sweet talked DH into helping me dose the flock with ivermectin and cannot believe how smooth and easy it was compared to the time I used a bag full of sevin to dose for mites,lice.

The original flock of juvies I bought last spring had a case of mites when I brought them home and although I have never seen any on this flock (old ones are sold)...I figure the outside run area must have mites and a couple of the Orps have shook their head or scratched it. Anyway..after reading up on it...I got a 3cc syringe a flashlight that slips over your head like a miner would use (I looked very fetching) and had DH sitting in a spare coop with light on and the syringe and ivermectin. I went into the dark hens coop, picked up one , carried it around to spare lite coop...pushed aside the feathers behind the neck and DH administered the dose.(no needle..just drops) Put that hen into enclosed run and did the same for each of the 11. I then let them all back into the coop. Went smooth as silk although how they will treat me today I have no idea. With mistrust likely. I had used the paste hidden in bread two weeks ago and cleaned the coop and sprayed with peretherin but wasn't sure how the paste would work. I am sure this would kill any lurking mite! I didn't even get any on me unlike when I used the sevin last spring.

Question: After winter will mites outside on the ground be killed or do they lie dormant waiting for thaw? I'm thinking of spraying the entire ground in fenced in area with peretherin next spring...maybe doing it every 2 months or so just to kill wild bird mites.
