My chickens were locked down all due to the nasty nasty wind & rain. I was able to let them free range about 4:00. They acted like a bunch of prison escapees.......Bolting out & Running everywhere!

There is an ON/OFF dial on the top of the timer. When I plugged it in the dial was on ON and the lights came on, so I turned the dial to OFF because I don't want the lights on all night. I am assuming at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning it will switch to on, but maybe not. Like I said, I couldn't get it to work when I bought it years ago, so I won't be surprised if it doesn't work now.

ChickwannaB - Beautiful spinach noodles!!!!! You domestic types are awesome.

Jaime! What type of chicken laid that egg?
I have never seen one that large! What are you feeding those hens?

ChickwannaB - that is great looking pasta! And I know it tastes so much better than store bought! The spinach in it makes it super healthy also! Great job.

I have the same timer Chickmate. First set the time in the middle section...then the green pin you pull out and put in at the time you want the lights to come ON (green for go) and the red pin you put at the time you want the light to go OFF. Does that help?

Thanks Fife! The time in the middle is the CURRENT time, right? It really is pretty basic and that's how I set it last time, but it never came on so I figured I did something wrong. Well, I set it to come on a 6:00 a.m. and go off at 9:00 a.m., so we'll see if it works. Maybe there's something wrong with the timer itself. Thanks again for your help!

Yes...current time in the middle. It didn't work when I first set it up...told my hubby and he said he usually does a spin around manually on it to check. (so he did) It might have been stuck or something because it has worked fine since the manual spin.

It had to have been one of my barred rocks. I just finished eating it for breakfast. (double yolker) Yum!

Just layer mix from the elevator. I've been out of town this week and I need to add in some food that has a higher protien for the young boys. I'll do that today.

I've got my 1 year old neice today! I can't wait to introduce her to the silkies! She loves my chickens. I hope I have another egg for her to find in the coop. I found one on the floor yesterday, so I won't be surprised if there is not one today. I only have 1 laying so far, and I don't think I will get one every day from her. It would be nice though....lol

I had a very wet and rumpled looking chicken waiting outside the coop this morning.

She had some loose hanging feathers but no injuries. She is acting like one of my Polish pullets did when she started laying. She would sneak off to hide. Hopefully this is NOT a repeated event, I don't think my nerves could handle that.
