I am working on the sun box... its a lot harder/trickier than I was anticipating. I have 2 door sized windows, and at first I thought they were the same size. Nope. SO, I think it'll be ok, just a little different measures on the trim/frame work. I think I'll be able to make it work. The box will be attached to one end of the coop, with ventilation, and 2 exits. it'll stand about 5 ft tall and 4 wide by 4 deep and a roosts so they can hang out there if they don't want to go out side. I am going to construct the framing so I can take it apart in the spring, OR better yet, turn it into a starter greenhouse! WOW, I just thoguth of that, and I think it'll work...
My leggern has been a bit witchy lately. Is that a normal trait/thing before they start laying? She was aggravating What, and What was trying her best to stay out of her way, but Miss Legs... She's usually a very good girl, but not the last few days, and its towards EVERYONE. She must be having FEMALE ISSUES. LOL I know what thats like!
Well, There was one heck of a hard frost this morning. Things were already frozen when I started work last night about 12:30 AM and when I got home, everything was crystal white, and When I got up to let the girls out at 9, everything was still frosty! BRRRR!
Barley... Can I feed the girls barley? I found a bag of barley, don't know why we have it, but anyway, was turning the dried beans stock, to make sure I use the oldest first, and I found a bag of barley. I probably bought it to make a stew, and then lost it and forgot about it, but its got an 08 expiration date, but since they've been dry stored proper, I am not worried about that. I was just wondering if I can feed it to the birds...
Thanks for the frost bite info Olive. That is all good to know.
