No bucks yet.....hubby is still trying!

No MSU lab results yet but they did get the package from me yesterday. One of my splash jerseys still will sneeze softly at times.

Farmerboy, you're by me. I'm in coopersville. Your roo looks just like my EE roo! i have to figure out how to set up my stuff so i have a pic and you guys get my info. Daughter of Eve, definitly look into the bumblefoot. it'll be a black dot on foot, with swelling. there's videos on how to get it out. And i have to brag: my hubby got a doe yesterday!! Btw, my interests are for EE's, cooking, and gardening. How do i post pics for you guys???

Fife,
If your MSU results are good - meaning that it is a simple bacterial infection, would the vets at MSU help you get amoxicillan? I know you gave tetracycline but
my son has pneumonia and upper respiratory infection and the doctors are insisting on Amoxicillan for him, even though it upset his stomach.
When my hen had pneumonia our vet gave her Amoxicillan, so I am thinking that if you only have a lingering infection in the flock, perhaps the vets will have information on how to get it really treated thoroughly? I had to give my bantam a high dose. She took 0.5ml twice a day. My son is taking a huge dose also, so I don't know if something added to the water would work or if you would have to catch each bird and really give it a big dose twice each day. I know you will know more when you get your results but thought while you had the vet school on the phone you could maybe get a prescription from them if that is the way things go. God bless.

Chicken Grandma you can be sure I will get whatever I need to "cure" the flock ,IF it is something "curable". I will ask MSU or call back the Traverse city vet...even our local vet. If I have a written diagnosis...I could simply print it up and take it to whatever vet had what I needed. I trust my vet here to supply be with medication . The two roos when chasing and fleeing...had a definite "wheeze". Thanks for your concern....hope your son is all better now. ?

DH got a doe on the first day of bow season...he can only get a buck now. We have seen two spikes on the trail cam but no "biggies".

I SOOOOOO would come get a couple, so I could take my rabbit outside in the summer. But, I am an hour away. I wish you lived the other direction, I am heading to the tip of the Thumb this weekend. Dang it!

Angela, I go into Lansing every week. If Jen is willing to meet me in Lansing some Wed, I'll be glad to pick them up for you. Not next Wed cuz it's the day before Thanksgiving, but any other time..... so if you two work anything out, let me know.
I don't know if you noticed while you were here, Angela, but I use pet taxis as cover for the smaller hens to hide under. I take them apart and now you have two hide aways. There are several sizes out there. Get them at garage sales for a steal. My bunnes love hiding under them too.

Cool! I have one of those smaller ones. I will use that.

My hubby got a doe last night. We are donating it to the MI Food Bank (the butcher gives up the tenderloins and backstraps though) He just doesn't have time to butcher it this week, so donating benefits everyone involved. We are going up this weekend, so my daughter, our friend's daughter and I can hunt. GIRLS WEEKEND!

Oh yes I am. They are separated from the rest of the muscovys for now, but they actually seem to not mind each other. Our total number of muscovys is now 11 (2 drakes and 9 hens).

Deer hunting yesterday was a bust. Since a tornado destroyed my woods and dragging a deer out is going to be an ardous task I decided to not shoot anything other than a trophy buck until the ground is frozen and we have snow. I did see several nice does in the afternoon but managed to restrain from taking one. Maybe I have gotten a little smarter in my old age and I still have until Jan 1st to fill the freezer.

Hey, folks!

I'm going to be placing an order with Metzer Farms in the spring for just a couple of ducks. There's a minimum order of 10, and I was wondering if anyone else is interested in adding a few to get my number up? If I can't find anyone that's interested, I can order the three I'd like, I'll just have to pay a "small order charge."

Here's their website - http://www.metzerfarms.com/index.cfm?CustID=499147

If
anyone's interested in adding on to my order (I'll probably order in February for a March or April delivery), please shoot me a PM!
