I have locked myself in the henhouse last February at 11 pm for an half an hour. I had to tear out a chicken wire out of the ventilation and let myself drop 8 feet to the floor on the other side. I had a cell phone with me, but did not want to wake my parents.

Nova,
I have some coops for sale if you are interested...

Oh I would have totally called my parents....with some fatastical tale of how I came to be in this "cooped up" situation. Waiting until the last possible moment to let them know what "jail" they can bail me out of. I figure I have an obligation to keep feeding them material to wow their friends. It's my sole duty in life.

Good morning everyone. :)

What a ruckus from Crispy about 15 minutes ago. Came out in the run to sing her egg song. The noise level would rival any rooster. She is normally an afternoon layer.

Taprock.....makes sense about the breeding & genetics with the frizzles feathers. As I'm still learning also I'm gonna ask what's a Sizzle? I'm guessing a cross between a Silkie & a Frizzle.

I'm not sure how many ways you can breed them but mine is from a frizzled Cochin and a silkie. She looks pretty much all Cochin except the crest feathers, 5 toes and some black on her skin.

I have put off going out today. It doesn't look nice, wind, snow and I know there has to be ice under it all. I guess I just need to do it... there is the hot coffee waiting when I get back in.

All this talk about being stuck in a chicken coop, I have a story that I haven't told hardly anyone. It was even 3 years before I told the owner of the farm. Farmerboy16, I know you can relate to this one and know what I'm talking about !
Years ago I milked cows for a guy. Did it for 10 years . Also fed all (around 120 ) calves and run the silage for the cows when I was done milking. I got done milking one morning, went out to run the silage, and as I was running it I got in a hurry and lowered the driver down to far. So, I had to climb up the silo, jump in, and un-bury the driver. All was fine and good until I went to get out and realized I didn't take the lower door out so here I stand trying to figure out how I was going to get out of this silo. I thought well, if I'm missing long enough someone would find me and climb up and take the lower door out. Did NOT happen. So after about an hour I figured out if I climb up the driver and jump maybe I could get to the door. That worked. I got out, finished my chores, went home, and never told a soul for at least 3 years.

Oh my gosh! Tie her to a stick and clean the cob webs! She is so fluffy and darn cute! I am afraid I'd never let her outside!

She's beautiful!

Thanks. Her name is Ms. Moppit. She is very small. This fall the neighbors dog killed her buddy a silky. They had never gone more than 6 foot from the coop and I couldn't find her. I figured the dog had gotten her as well. About 6 hours later she showed up in our back field and found her way home. I was worried she would have trouble without her buddy but she has fit in and roosts every night with this huge Production Red. She goes every where with the flock now and usually ends up with filthy feet and a muddy head. She has a great attitude and has gone visiting to a senior center with us in the past.

Taprock, that is one cute chicken!

Thank you for all the kind words about my Aunt. She was one lucky lady if you ask me.

We had a rough day aside from the funeral, my dog got sick the night before, so before we left for the funeral we had to rush him to the vet, he wasn't any better in the morning. We suspected he had a blockage, which he did, so he had surgery........then he almost died from toxic shock. So it was a rough night waiting to hear his progress. Looks like he may pull through but he's not out of the woods yet.

So glad I got my concert tickets (Korn at the Filmore in Detroit) before all this happened or I wouldn't be able to go! I'm sure the vet bill is gonna be huge!

Friday, we leave to spend the weekend in Vegas for our 16th anniversary! Glad all that's been paid for as well, or we'd be staying home! Going to see Blue Man Group Saturday!!!

Stacykins... your wake up call cracked me up! How big is the dog?
