Hello Kevin! So great to have you. The MI thread is so cool that now other states are joining us! We have a Minnegander and now a Texagander to go along with all us Michiganders! Hope you'll pop in and keep in touch!

Wow, that sounds really dangerous! I remember reading years ago about some kids who died in a silo because they suffocated in the corn when they fell in. Thank God you got out OK!

SillyChicken - So sorry about your dog, I hope he pulls through OK. I have one two-legged child and three four-legged children, so I know how you feel.

I have a question about Chickenstock. If I bring a bazillion egg cartons to sell, do you think there would be any interest? I will never use all that I have and I thought I'd make bundles of 10 and sell them for cheaper than you can buy them at TSC or anywhere. Think anyone would buy them?

So it looks like I'll be going to Florida from March 15-20th for a little vacation. I'll be going with my daughter and SIL and 11 yr. old grandson and hopefully my sister-in-law, who is my ex-husband's sister. We'll be going down to visit his other sister and her husband who have a humongous home somewhere around Tampa. I divorced him, but still have a close relationship with his two sisters. I haven't been on a vacation since I went to Mexico in 2006, I think. I'm paying my neighbor to take care of my dogs and chickens and macaw for me. Especially looking forward to it because my daughter and I will be able to spend some time together and not have to do any work! Usually when we see each other she is coming over to help me do something I can't do alone! Woo Hoo!

Mama and babies are doing great in their new larger enclosure. I took them out some warm peas and corn and she would mash them up and feed them to the babies. So cute. I buried the egg that didn't hatch today. Kinda sad.
I am interested in egg cartons. I buy them by the 100 from TSC. Glad momma and babies are doing good. I love baby chicks. They are so cute and fuzzy.

HAPPY like CRAZY tonight

my Brinsea came, I've read all the instructions and I absolutely hate digital stuff, but have made it come up to temp and then set my eggs: 4 buff Chantecler and 3 Barred Rocks, from my own ladies.

They are due on
Valentines Day, YIPPEE.

Mine came today! Whoo hoo...our hatches will be close- I am just transferring my eggs from the styrofoam bator to the Brinsea :)

Waiting on coming up to temp...and then in they go!

Too exhausted tonight to respond to everyone that I wanted to...so quickly:
Welcome to the new ones, glad nobody got locked in coops today, Silos are dangerous places- my sisterinlaws first love died in one,
sorry to hear about the sick dogger, hope he will be okay soon- my little dog was spayed today, and it wiped her and me both out-she is still on my lap, still out of it. Chickmate- I am SO following you to Florida, glad yours and NovaAman's chicks are doing well. HillbillyHen hurry up and join the hatching!
Hope RaZ is feeling better,
and sorry to anyone I missed.

Good night all!

Seriously? What kind? I'm thinking of adding about 12 myself.

Well, our little Morris just goes to the corner I don't occupy! He loves his comfort and doesn't move too far from it. Of course, sometimes he has to share with the bed hog.

Our little 17lb Mia doesn't drool, but she has absolutely no qualms about sitting on you to make a point...just ask Kenzie.

Yes, our bed is a very soft and cozy mecca for all.

Seriously! See my siggy for what I have for breeding. I am hoping to get orders for Chickenstock.

Love the pics. I see you have to fight for bed space too. Thankfully our husky does not like to share the bed, he will usually leave as soon as I get in.

Chickmate, I am sure plenty of folks will be interested in buying egg cartons. I am nearly out of the ones I stockpiled. I hope you will be able to take that vacation and have loads of fun.

ChicwannaB & Mom2, congrats on your new incubator! Good luck with your hatches. I am setting eggs for the first time in the morning.

Did I miss something? What's wrong with RaZ?

Can I give my little pin feathered chuckles peas yet?they look like they are bored.

Nova - I gave my babies peas today. Rather, Mama did. I put them in the dish and she mashed them up in her mouth and fed them to the babies. They loved them! I hope it's not too early for them, they're only 6 days old. I figure if they were out in a barnyard Mama would be feeding them whatever she found, so clean warm peas should be OK. Right? Olive, Mom, Mutt, Opa, anyone.....?
