Good morning everyone!!
Newby from Conklin. Thought I would drop in and say hello. I can't wait for springtime to get here!
Welcome! :frow
FARMERBOY-
I forgot to quote you...yay for your pineapple plant! That is SOOOOOOOOOO cool. Do you have special lighting/heat lamp for it in your house? That is soo neat.
Also- I love your longcrower. I ordered a bunch of eggs last year or year before as a joke for my brother-in-law but none of them developed . (not from you, from someone else)...does this breed normally have fertility issues? All talk. lol.

Good Morning everyone. I hope you have a wonderful day. I must get ready for work now...even though I wish I could call off,
impossible.
I do not use any kind of light and heating. I just stuck them by the window during cold weather, and after the last frost, I put them outside until first frost. I think the amount of daylight affect the roos fertilizing the eggs. Happy Birthday Opa!!!

The Orchid Show is this Saturday at Meijer Gardens if anyone is interested. I will certainly be there.

Farmerboy - Cool Pineapple!

My Marans girlie is still sickly and in my bathroom to my DH's dismay. I thought I was going to lose her last night but she was alert and drinking this morning but still very weak. We got through the impacted crop issue but she had sour crop ontop of that.

This morning her crop was empty...finally. So in addition to her doses of yogurt and vitamens she got to have some warm grits this morning. When I first put the grits in there she just looked at it and went back to sleep. When I checked on her before I left she had a face full of grits.

I am hoping this is a sign that she is going to turn around soon.

Sure hope your hen pulls through.

I see one of my babies we just hatched out is a Cuckoo Marans pullet.

Thanks for the well wishes for my dog (and Aunt). He was not improving at the vet where they wanted him to. The toxic shock causes hypothermia or was it hyperthermia...lol, well either way, his temperature was too low and they wanted him to eat on his own to help bring it up. Gino was soooo funny with the vet. She had tried getting him to eat and he just held the food in his mouth and then snubbed his nose at her and spit it out when she left. They decided he'd probably do better at home. When we left to go home she said good bye to him and he literally stuck his nose in the air and turned away from her... wouldn't acknowledge she even existed! LOL! He ate really well when we got home and his temp has been slowly rising. We kept him bundled up for the night and he ate well again this morning too. I think he just needed to be home.
He's pretty sore but it looks like he'll be fine!

I'm totally excited about seeing The Blue Man Group.. we have seats front and center (out of the rain coat section though) I like to be close, but not that close! Friday night we're meeting with a friend that just moved out there and I think we'll spend most of Saturday outside of Vegas near the canyons.. we're not much for gambling and prefer to sight see!

Hasn't this winter been crazy? Well, should I say lack of winter so far? I have to admit, I'm liking it! The deer and other critters are probably having an easier time. Last night I woke up to coyotes yapping and yowling... apparently they like to sound off when sirens go off too! But I still got up and watched the chicken coop for a few minutes to make sure they weren't planning on bird for dinner. (the geese and other larger birds won't go in anything at night, except for a shelter I made out of straw, and the weather has to be bad for them to go inside).

Opa, I hope you have a very Happy Birthday!!!
Hoping your dog does well .Good luck.

I think sillychicken needs to lay OFF of the steaped seeds...

Farmerboy, sure, I meant your pineapple plant. I did a double take at your pineapple plant, which is cool by the way

I really meant RaZ there...

ALSO, yes, I meant to write chuckles... Them little birds give me chuckles every time I watch them. They are very curious about my specs.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OPA-WAN!!!

So, anyway, what a beauty of a day this is starting out to be. Supposed to get in the upper 30's today and tomorrow. I need to put fresh straw in the duck coop. I was wondering if anyone had any nifty ideas for duck feeders? I hate just putting their food in a bowl on the floor of the coop. They get this bright idea to bathe in it somedays. SO, the last few days the bowl has been tipped and spilt all over the floor. SInce they dip their heads in there food, then the water, I need to be able to take it in and out, so, I can't have anything that attaches to a wall... OH!! Maybe a salt lick block holder? Nailing, anchor/hooks that I can put it on and off... Think that would work?

Well, I am off to do something... I do not know what. I'd like some soaked seeds, but no one in the house felt the need to buy some... Oh, thats right, I am the shopper. OK, no one reminded me to get some... Oh, thats right, I am the only one who drinks it! HOW CAN THIS BE!

Totally off the chicken subject, but this is pretty cool!
