Yorkchick.....I think that's absolutely fine, after all it is your home/birth State! Having others stop in is great and having friends in different places is also great....beneficial too! Nothing wrong with the fact that they are the leading thread, apparently they have people who either are a lot more chatty than us (don't know how that could be) or more retired, work @ home folks. Either way I think it's cool that they were so welcoming to you as we are always pleased to see new members. Their thread sounds a lot like ours. Chicken Rangler & Friends are always welcome....I think the more the merrier, the more the greater info and learning experience!!

P.S. How in Gods name did you have the time to read 2 busy, busy threads? I can barely keep up with ours, but I also work part time.

P.S.S. Welcome Back Chicken Wrangler...correction: Chicken Rustler!! I need to read slower!!

I think that's neat that you can go to other threads and keep tabs on peeps you know.
Hi Chicken Rustler, enjoying your return invasion?

Newish member here...just posted over in the intro section...but thought I should stop off here and say hi in person as well. I am a Michigander myself located on Byron (48418).

Today my ladies gave up their first 4 eggs (pic in my intro post)...so that prompted me to start posting. I have been lurking since back in September when we decided to start a backyard flock.

Not sure I'll be able to keep up with this thread...but you may see me from time to time.

Thank you all for the very warm welcome. Yes we just had some pretty nasty weather. I had 17" of snow over night. We normally get 1"-4". I was out of power for 9 1/2 hrs. and had all of my outside runs collapsed flat. I was LUCKY see some of the WA peeps STILL have no power since Wed 18th.
Now if I may offer a suggestion. Here is how we kept track of each other. I was lucky and had Generator or Utility power the whole time. I also was one of the few who had cell #'s for most. So I kept in contact and tried to keep the group updated via text on cell, Face book, e-mail, PM's and posts on the WA thread. So I would suggest that if your group wants to stay in touch share multiple ways of contact. See we had some who could read the new BYC on cell phones but they couldn't post so I knew I was getting info to them and if they had something important they would text me. Others just had text contact and some (like me) were lucky and had everything but no contact lists. While it was some rough times it was in a way kind of fun. See like the one who was mentioned that had the chicks hatch. She was going to toss those eggs and I told her don't you dare you give them eggs a chance. Well when the first ones started hatching after 35 hours in her pockets she texted me AT 2:45 AM . Was I mad Heck no I was happy to try to help.
OK sorry for the ramble just wanted to say get a plan in place just in case ! ! ! ! ! We didn't have one. Just made it up as we went.
And as for my name CHICKEN RUSTLER . There is a real story behind the name and my normal avatar. So IF ya ever wanna hear the story just let me know!

Thanks for the tip on keeping in contact in the event of emergency, Chicken Rustler. I loved the story about the lady who finished hatching eggs by the wood burner. You say in her pockets as well?? We really should put something in place before we get hit with a mega storm and lose power. Anyone remember the ice storm of 1974? OMG, it was like the end of the world, but so beautiful at the same time. We had a tree through our roof and no power for weeks! Of course, no internet to be bummed about being without either! I think we should figure something out before it happens.

I love stories and I wanna hear about the man behind the mask!!

Hi, another Washingtonian here. Well, actually, came here from California, Via Maryland, via England!

So, I reckon a can go anyplace, since I'm not a native of anywhere!

So, CR has been here too? He's a great chappie - kept us all connected in THE STORM

I have never been to MI - the closest I got was Chicago a few years back. But one of these days . . . I'd like to bring the boat and go out on that big lake you have. (But only in good weather.)

So, hope all you peeps over there are doing well, and keeping dry and safe. . .

I'll be popping back. . .

Yes so this just proves those stories ya hear bout the ladies hatchin in thier ....uhm shirt. Yes she sent pics of them hatching in her sweat shirt pocket. She was with out power and carried eggs for 91 hours and I think hatched 25ish out of 50. Pretty good I think considering. They were Serama.

I don't wanna tie up yer thread so if there is enough interest I will tell the story of Chicken Rustler. Otherwise I will PM it. I am but a guest you folks tell me.

Yessss....please tell the story about the Man Behind The Mask. Is he related to the Lone Ranger or Zora....both good guys in my opinion!
