The pleading i did yesterday did me a lot of good. Several of you responded and solved the multi quote problem. Opa, and I have not asked him if it was ok to "spill the beans " so to speak, sent his p # and suggested he might be of some help. this in spite of his cold and feeling lousy. I had not been aware of that when I called him this AM. Short version of report.

We talked for over an hour, interrupted by the necessity of one or the other of us , to leave to take care of some other things for brief times. He was very patient & understanding in leading me through using several features of BYC site and some things I had not known about computer usage in general along with the inter-net. I wanted you to know . Most of you already did especially if you have spent much time on the Michigan thread.

Let the man know we appreciate him and his efforts. I hope he will not come to regret this act of kindness. ( though some of the rest of you might) Sure hope not
That sounds like Opa..... Thoughtful, Kind and Generous to offer his knowledge & time for one in need. I'm so looking forward to meeting him at Chicken Stock (as well as the others) for he has been very helpful to me when I've had a question or been unsure about something!! As my kids would say.....OPA ROCKS! lol

Ok.... The count is in. As of right now I do have 35 babies with four more to lamb. Good lamb crop this year.
Can I ask what do you plan on doing with all these babies? Are they for your own use / own farm or do you plan on selling some?
35 and still counting makes you one busy person.

THE SNOW IS COMING THE SNOW IS COMING!
I haven't watched the weather in days.....what are they predicting....A BLIZZARD? You know will get one this year....it's MI.

The dusting of snow we got this morning is gone....the sun melted it all. Chickens are free ranging and enjoying every minute.
Took my DS to the doctor today.....strep throat....he said they've seen quite a bit of it the past few weeks. So I figure in a day or two I'll be making a call to get an antibiotic for my DD. That's how it usually runs in my house.

Good morning Michigan! I hope all those that are fighting sickness are well soon

I am just getting over a bout of pneumonia myself only to wake up with my sinuses congested this morning. I told DH that he did not need to share. I think a nice big pot of chicken soup sounds good for times like this.
Mine were, too.

I had issues last week with my sinuses and they knocked me on my bum. I actually was feeling better the last few days, but this a.m. it was like 'nope, not done yet.'

Not sure if my cold is the same! but I don't ever remember my head, eyes, jaws and face hurting so bad with only a cold. I'm way past wanting this thing gone and medicine seems to do nothing. Hope you feel better Opa.

Taprock, that sounds like you could possibly have a sinus infection. I had one last year and it was just like that and I went days feeling like something had kicked me in the face. Medicine barely touched it, either. Hope you feel better soon.

Well wishing everyone better right now as all these bugs/viruses are going around.
The only good thing about any of it is it has dampened my chick desire so post all the cute little pics you want because it's not going to affect me right now.

.
Sure you can ask. Might not like the answer but you can ask. I sell them in the fall for market lambs. I keep a few females for replacements and sell the rest. I also sell some privately if people want them. Busy, sleep deprived, and everything else LOL. Lambing is my busiest time of the year.

Ah, yes sinus infections, I know them well. Good test. While standing up, bend over so your head is pointing down. If your face feels like it's going to explode, you've probably got a sinus infection. They don't go away without antibiotics. Another test. If you think it has gone away, but then in 2 weeks you feel sick again, it's probably a sinus infection. I got so good at diagnosing mine, that I didn't have to keep going in to see the doctor, I'd call and have a prescription at my pharmacy in a couple hours.

Sheesh. If i were closer you could get mine out of my hair for a minute. He is good for helping people with car stuff. Changed his uncles motor one time for a pack of roll-your-own cigaretts when he still smoked. Yep, not even a real pack!
Btw, your auto correct has been making me bust up in public....

OK sicklies, for a sinus infection, if you don't have insurance, "collodial silver" works wonders. Cured a friend of a chronic one after 3 days of using it. Not cheap, at $15 a dropper bottle, but it really works. (At least on sinus infections) Dr's apparently used it before there was any such thing as antibiotics. It comes in a nasal spray.
For a throat cold, ZINC LOZENGES !!!! I know it sounds hokey, but they really did fix what i'm sure was strep throat. I was partially through it, and had taken a bunch of vitamins and such, and finally broke down and went to the dr. He didn't really want to give me antibiotics, and i didn't really want them anyway, so i asked him what else i could try. He recommended them, and i am happy to say i've never gotten a strep throat since! He explained that regular vitamins that you swallow work differently because they are broken down in the stomach. The lozenges, which you hold under your tongue, go straight into your blood and to your throat to kill the crud at it's source! Reg. meds make you feel better, but these actually kill the germ. Every time i feel like i'm coming down with something (which is off and on all winter, curtosy of DH's extensive family) I take them for a few days. Have only been sick a few times in the last 5 years! And this is with being outside a good deal of the winter too. One of those things you just have to try to believe...
Another good remedy is hot peppers. Put cayenne or hotter if you have it in soup, whatever and drink it a few days. Burn you up, but better soon!

ahhh....I see. I was just curious, didn't know if you sold them, kept them all, sheered them or what not. My aunt recently took a felting class, made a cute little tote with some beautifully color dyed wool.

Could he be a game bird of some kind? You might post a picture in the What Breed or Gender Is This thread

What kind of chickens do you have, rmh? Any purebreds? Do any breeding?

My egg layers a mixed flock, some Isa Browns, a couple Polish and a few mutts too. My other coop is for my Cochin Bantams I have Blue, Partridge, Splash and Birchen colored ones. My cochins just started laying around Christmas time and I have a coule who are broody now. I let one of the hens sit on 7 eggs so hopefully next week I will have some little cochins

Well, count just went up. 38 now. Just had another set of triplets. Wish they would quit that. Every time there are triplets that just one more I have to feed on a bottle !!! My sheep are hair sheep, there is no shearing of wool.
