Had a sentinel carrier get killed this morning on m-40 on his way into Holland to deliver. He was hit head on by another car whose driver fell asleep at the wheel. The young man would drive from plainwell... An hours drive, just to earn a living 7 days a week... Just messed up...

Nova - I am very very sorry. Life does not make sense to us from our point of view. I trust that God has this young man in his care as He cares for all of us, even the sparrow.
I am praying for trust for all of us. Trust in something bigger than ourselves.

I may be heading to Alpena this morning to get some seed planting stuff. I AM going to stop at TSC, this whole trip depends on what they tell me they have chick wise, of course. Need some little gals. I'm bringing a fairly small box to avoid excess chick math.

Good luck......I had plans on going to TSC today but since DD is sick it's better that I wait. How long can I wait.....don't know I'm getting chick fever and it's spiking!!

Me, too, killed every last one of them. My mom and sister had beautiful ones for years , on a coffee table under a south facing window. I have a south facing window now, but it has a dog bed and a small bench in front of it for Luna and Ziggy to stand on and see outside. I think they would look very dejected if I took away their bench for a bunch of silly plants. Ah well, I'll just have to wait for spring for outside color.

I belong to the Wayne/Washtenaw County chapter of AV people. I love these plants but I have managed to kill every one that I've ever had.
The national convention is going to be here in Detroit this year.

OMG OMG OMG!

Goat kids have hit the ground! Not here, but at the breeder whom I have kids reserved at. One of the does I had chosen to reserve a doeling out of just had FOUR doelings! A quad birth of all girls! So now I get to pick between FOUR little babies! Eeeeeee! I am so excited!

Hey! Finally someone here from Sparta!

I have seen a picture of your tractor coop at the Feed Mill, and thought that it was very cool! Where in Sparta are you? I am west of M-37.
Hillbilly Hen- I have looked at all the chicks that I hatched from you, and none of the 12 chicks look like roos. But, of course they are only 2 weeks old.

Chicken Grandma and Snowflake- Thanks for all the info that you have been sharing about the classes. I enjoyed reading everyone's responses about the chick feed, etc. I have learned a lot.

All 14 she hatched out for me are pullets. Even the Delaware's are all pullets except for 1. HH has the touch LOL.

That would be really nice Nancy! I just got the vet bill today.

There goes my paycheck for the last two weeks.

But, on the bright side, the antibiotic is working!

The peacock that got sick, is doing much better, and he has no bubbling around his eye, and the running nose is gone. Also the swollen sinus has gone down. In-fact he looks like that he never got sick in the first place, and this is only day 3 three of the treatment! Yay for Denagard!

With that kind of success in hatching pullets, I think Hillbilly Hen needs to open a hatchery!!

I have offered to hatch and sell some. My incubator will be empty soon.
