My heart goes out to all who today must face the cleanup from yesterday's storm. The tornado in the Dexter area is only about 20 miles from me and I can only think but for the grace of God go I. The devastation shown of television is unbelievable. Fortunately no one was injured or killed. Hopefully our BYC friends in the area post soon to let us know they are all right.

Without a doubt spring is here. With the temperatures we have had this week and the ones fore-casted for next week how could it be anything but. I certainly hope it is as I've made the transition from felt to straw.

The coffee is done so I must get a cup or two drunk so that I will be awake enough to go take Hope's oldest granddaughter to school. Then upon arriving back home I will continue trying to get the detritus of winter cleaned from the yard.

RaZ BTW, I found this link on the Michigan RTFA page.

I'll be taking a copy to the ordinance officer tomorrow.

Good luck today Raz!

Has anyone heard from Susan? Yorkchick that is? She is in Dexter I believe, and I am curious how she and her family faired yesterdays tornado...

this mornings fog was a nightmare. Walking in it was just so oppressive. I just couldn't get up speed and it took me 1.5 hours to walk the 3 miles. And another 30 just to drive the section it normally only take 15... Breathing was not a challenge, but like putting my face over a cool mister. Well at least I didn't need a bottle of water...

Morning All,
Pretty calm on the front here, the storm missed us. Just had a little bit of rain and mostly lightening....all around us. Hoping everyone else is OK. I saw some pics of the storm (tornado) and news coverage, it looked scary. A friend of ours was in the mist of it delivering a horse.

Hoping you all came through the storms OK. Might I suggest that if you haven't already you share other contacts. Such as land line, cell/text, e-mail. See that is what many of us in WA have done. When we recently had the big snow storm many had no electricity or internet but had cell service. We were able to keep track of each other and make what arrangements we could to help.

We have been getting pounded by rain the last two days and are getting flooding which I am sure will be pretty bad by the weekend when we are all trying to get to the show in Monroe. That may be a fun 130 mile trip for me.

here I am.
Wish I could say it was a breeze and that I am doing fine. Far from it. I got there at six. Was wheeled in the operating room at 657, and was on my way home at 940.
Im allergic to Morphine. Had a horrible headache when I 'woke' up, they gave me toradol. Wrote me a script for fake vicodin- and I cant take vicodin. So, when I got home, I tried to take one of those fake ones..Norco, its called. Made me extremely sick. Nausea had me on the bathroom floor, muscle spasms kept me there.
SO MUCH PAIN. and muscle spasms.
I cant lie down, I cant sit. I pace and I cry. It has been 24 hours. Hopefully, it gets better soon, but as it is right now if you are allergic to good drugs, I cant recommend the surgery.

RaZ, thats awful. and I am so sorry. Its a fear I have every day. Now with four crowers- I am pushing my luck. Ferret wants them, but I cant catch them now- if he can come here and grab them, he can have em. I sure hope you can win this. :(

Prayers for all affected by the tornados. But for the grace of God go I...I watched it get dark out, and told my husband that I was in too much pain to care if a tornado took me away- or to take cover or anything else. IT didnt come here, thankfully. Impressive rain fall, though. Lightening and big big booms.

I had a chick hatch last night- this morning, two am, I heard peeping in the incubator- and while I said it was late, really, its the only one who hatched on their due date. The rest were early.

Anybody heard from Mom2Em yet? Wishing her a speedy recovery from her surgery

Well it finally happened.
There was a note in my mailbox from the Code Enforcement Officer. Someone called on my hens.
According to the note, I have 5 days to "abate said nuisance"

Looks like I will be heading to court in the near future.

I hope she is doing ok too. She is never going to get caught up here when she comes back.

Wonder how Mom2 is doing... Hope her surgery went as expected...

Glad to hear from you M2M. We were all concerned.

Now we need to hear from Yorkchick. She is east of Dexter so I hope she missed the worst of the storm. By the time it hit Ypsi, the storm was thunder, lightning and strong wind, but not super bad.

Chicken Rustler has a good idea, we should have some back up contacts in case of an emergency.
I'm in Garden CIty, so anyone within 10 or 20 miles want back up support, send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number. Heck, if you are in Dexter and need help, I'll go there. I have a generator and chain saws

Might I suggest that you not put a distance (so to speak) limit. See when we had our snow storm I was one of the very few that had a generator, land line, cell and internet. I was able to help others close to 100 from me. Partly by making connections and arrangements, but also A LOT by just being support. See one example is RedRoosterFarm who had a bator full and was going to give up on the eggs. I told her "don't you dare you stuff yer shirt (yup) and pockets and play broody. Well 35 hours after she lost power she text me at 2:45am to say she had chicks hatching. She got 20 some out of 50 some. See there were 2 lessons here. One by having support and encouragement Anna hatched eggs she was going to give up on and the second lesson don't give up on eggs too soon.

Good foggy morning! I can barely see the henhouse from my bedroom window when I got up. The henhouse is about 200 feet from the house.

Glad that you are back Mom 2 em all!

That is a good idea about the land line CR!

Hope that Yorkchick is doing ok.

Lots of things to do today.
