I am pretty sure my bf will kill me though! What colors do you get? I would like any color but white...

A teacher is hatching eggs in the classroom this May... she is, also, wrestling over quail or chickens. i wanted quail first but may have fallen in love with silkies!!!

Ferrett - If anyone has a bird for adoption, Rescueme.org or petfinders.com are pretty good places to start. We also have a rescue in W.Michigan that takes birds called West Mich. Critterhaven or wmicritterhaven.org
And there is a bird rescue near Flint. If you need me to look up their phone number, please send me a personal message.

I wish there was some way of turning off my internal alarm clock. For some strange reason it seems to be stuck at 4am. I does give me a lot of quiet time to read the BYC posts, work the crossword, read a few chapters of a novel.

When I decided to quit giving away my excess eggs and start selling them I gave a lot of thought about pricing. I finally decided that I would trust people's innate goodness. I placed a sign asking for help with my feed bills so we can all enjoy eggs much fresher than anything available in the store. Please leave what every you feel is fair. So far this year everyone has been leaving $4 or $5.

GOod morning.

I work nights tonight, which should be interesting. I hate the afternoon shift. I went to bed at ten last night- tried to stay up late for me, so I would sleep in. Doesnt work. Not only my internal alarm clock, but my dogs alarm clocks wont let me sleep in.

Last night when I went to check on everyone, I was mobbed by a herd of chickens. Not a flock- no way. They were all rushing toward me..all the banties and the two meaties...I checked their waterer- very dry, empty...
I took that waterer into the house...and when I came out, all the banties had made their way out of the chicken yard and up onto my deck, following me. hahahaha...

So, trying to put the waterer back was almost impossible. ALmost stepped on chickens, almost broke my arm trying NOT to step on chickens.. Its time for me to invest in that huge waterer at TSC.

I will go to the one in Indiana next weekend and see if they have one.

I'm hoping to get a water line ran from the house to a frost proof yard hydrant this year. That way I can set up a low pressure water system and not have to worry about filling waterers until late fall when freezing temperatures set in. Although the idea of digging a 4' deep trench 250' long makes me tired just thinking about it.
