Here's the pics i promised yesterday:

The first one is the definate boy, (girls don't do that, do they??!) the second one is the one who's beak is trying to cross.....

Camera died before i could get the 3rd buff, who i am hoping is a girl because though there is light coloring like the crossbeak, that one's comb is much shorter and does not have the rounded appearance on the comb. This group is 4 weeks old now. For the beak issues i have been trimming it back, in an effort to stop it from crossing, in the last week it hasn't gotten worse, but not better either.... I know not to breed with this one, but it is a sweetie so i'm trying to give it a chance. If the beak crosses, i will have no choice, i'm not going to make it suffer. :(

This is my porcelain, she's only 3 weeks old, still no comb development (though she's much smaller than the others were at this age....?)

I wouldn't mind having a roo in this color, but i gotta have at least ONE girl to sit on the eggs, since my EE's won't do it....

I am growing blue hubbard this year, haven't tried it yet. are they sweet at all?

Looks like DH is driving the well this weekend

I am rooting for a pitcher pump, they have them at FFH for $40. That way we don't have to use electric, i have my version of a crabby neighbor, DH's aunt who moved into the trailer this year.... The only reason we had to buy the well is because she says so...NOT DH's stepmom, who we are all renting from. AND the well the house is on IS the garden well, it was rigged to work for the house so the previous renters didn't have to buy a well.... they aren't even going to be staying there for the summer, they camp up north. So we could easily just pay the electric bill for the summer..... but i think she's trying to drive us off the garden, she don't know how stubborn DH is.....

he already had a well pipe, now he bought a pump, got the driver from our friend, ha ha ha ha.

but it is putting a serious cramp on our budget, and my schemes to go to chickenstock.........

Still no word on the delivery of the babies. I had called Hope to check and she didn't answer, but a few minutes later she called apologizing for not answering. She had placed her phone on vibrate when she entered hospital and just realized that it isn't very effective when its in her purse. The babies must be waiting for better weather as they have yet to make an appearance. I'm not sure how long after ones water breaks before they take the babies but it must be nearing some kind of time limit.

Checked the broodys this morning the the egg eater still has 4 eggs so I am hopeful. I will continue to gather eggs for three more days and then place them in the incubator. Not really sure where I will put all of these chicks of disparate ages but I'm sure I will figure something out.

The 4 orphan ducklings got to swim in the sink while I cleaned out the brooder. They were having a blast and the batteries are dead in my camera. Figures!

I didn't let them stay too long, they have little if any oil yet. Now they are in the nice clean tote, preening under the warmth of the heat lamp. Nothing cuter than a frolicking little ducky.

I better ride the Harley to the beer store and regain my manhood.

but can totally picture you riding with a bird on your shoulder........

Gonna be exciting to see those babies, opa. are you going to post pics for us??

I was in the hospital a full week after my water broke, before they finally induced. Longest week of my life. BUT my daughter was 8 weeks premature, so they tend to make exceptions under such circumstances. That week allowed for three rounds of steroids which matured her lungs. I hope you have some grand babies soon. :)

Opa they won't let her go more than 24 hours with a broken water... Too high of a risk for infection...
But that is exciting... There will be babies today!!!

I too have a Crabby neighbor story... or maybe I am the crabby neighbor... anyway... We have been living here for a year and a half now and have neighbors on the corner that have yet to introduce themselves. We have "met" their dogs more than we have met them. This morning we woke to a man yelling out "STORM...STORM..." The dogs are cramped up in a TINY fenced yard or tied up in the front. NEVER get walked EVER!!! So I know they are just itching to run.
Well, I might be the crabby neighbor because last summer we had all the windows open and were having a nice warm night and the BF had to get up early the next morning to get to work earlier than normal... They locked their dog outside almost all night!!!! It barked until 3am!!! BF finally had enough and wanted to call the cops... I told him it would be better to talk to them first... That is what I would want them to do for us... So he knocked... no answer but he could see the tv was on. Came home and called the cops...Waited 15 min for the cops and they STILL did not bring the dog in!!! They answered for the cops!!!
lol.png

Even if the dog had been skunked or something they have a HUGE garage that they coul put him in
barnie.gif
Well the dogs still get loose and enjoy peeing all over my sons toys outside SO MUCH FUN!!!

Silly...You are having hot water heater problems too
highfive.gif
AWESOME
he.gif
The repair man came and informed me that he would not be fixing the heater today due to inaccurate records on their part... meaning it says they have the part... they have no part!!! It will have to wait til Monday...

PS we have never had an apology from the neighbors or their dogs...

That's what I say. I have other friends. Heck, I have friends that I haven't even used yet.

Thanks Laura. That's right RaZ, I have friends that I had for, well, let's just say for a few decades! So, we don't need the crabbies!!
Hope those babies come soon, Sam! Let us know when they come out!
Had quite a storm last night. Sooo much rain. Hope everyone made it thru the storms.

OK, off to enjoy the day, but one last question: (I apologize in advance for sticking to the rooster topic)
For those of you who have roosters you can trust around company, were those birds highly socialized when little, i.e. company being around often? Handled at all by different people other than yourself? I am still looking for ways to re-socialize my bird, the old neighbors that brought this on are no longer there. If he was just another untrained roo, i would not be trying so hard, but he has shown parrot-like intelligence and affection to myself and other people he's not afraid of. He never actually attacked anyone previous to that experience, was always good to company. What would you do with a dog/ parrot who has learned a bad habit? or is it a lost cause there too...?
I have studied his behavior a lot over last summer and this spring, i think it's a fright bite thing since i have seen him jump into certain kid's laps and my stepmom's lap with no problem whatsoever.

I am not a complete flop with roos, i did raise one nice EE that ended up having to be rehomed because any girls i "gave" to him ran off to my other roo . :( None of the girls would even look at him, i felt so bad . I rehomed him to a different farm , the gal was so pleased to have a nice roo, she took him home on her lap and fed him treats right away. I was told he'd have a harem of at least 15 hens!
