This is down in Portage, have no idea how much the guy wants for it, but DUDE! Awesome recycled green house. Heck, I'd use it for a chicken coop!

Where is everyone tonight?
Supper is in the oven, chickens are put to bed. Ducks seem to like sleeping outside. Orphan ducks are awake and making the propeller noise in the water bowl.

it is one of those days where we take advantage of the niceness of the day.

I got the floors all steamed cleaned... let Leila out of the brooder with the babies. She didn't take them very far from the coop door. They all seemed very happy to be out and running around in the garage. None of the other chickens that habitat in the garage seem to mind the itty bittys in there and have not made problems for Leila. Roger was VERY VERY happy to see his lady again after her last 2 weeks, going on 3 of confinement. He was doing his cluck cluck song at her and the chicks to show them little bits of food in the garage. What a good papa. LOL.

Ok. SO, I went to LOWES and got some OSB for wall, roof, floors. Now, here is the question. Its for weather protected projects, so, would several coats of paint and sealant be considered weather protected? Cuz otherwise I am thinking I will tar paper/shingle the whole thing. I am making an A-Frame tractor for the garage chickens tomorrow. BUT, I would really rather paint it. And lastly, for this, what type of wheels would be best for a yard that has moles? I plan on moving this thing around the yard to protect the silkies and Belle Mai.

Well any hoo...

Hello all. I posted in the new members section and was told I should also post here. Well I am a new chicken/duck keeper. I have two pekin ducks and three Rouen ducks. I also have six chickens purchased from TSC. Two brown pullets, two red pullets, and two black sex link. It was recently confirmed that one of my BSL is a Roo. That made my wife upset and me happy. Looking forward to fresh eggs. I am loving this forum. Seems like a bunch of great people. Cheers. Ron

A-frame, eh?
My only issue with OSB would be the glue that was used for binding the chips. Most likely not a problem, but if it came from over seas, it could be formaldahyde based. Or not.

I would prime and paint the OSB that the chickens have access to, just to be cautious. The external roof would be fine with shingles. You could probably save a few bucks by skipping the roofing paper, but I'm kind of anal and would put it on just because.

For wheels, do you have a Harbor Freight nearby? They have pneumatic tires that would work well. Larger diameter wheels will make it easier to mover over uneven ground.

YES I MADE IT. :). I have lived in MI my whole life and have never heard of half of these towns. Where is Tulip City?
