Did you have the apron buried or just laid out?

I ask cuz I don't have EITHER! My coops are on pretty hard ground, full of tree roots.. I keep thinking I need one though..

The birds were scattered around, many of them didn't really look like they had anything wrong with them, they were pretty much intact. There was one that was disemboweled and pretty much torn in half. One under a couple of other chickens was missing its head. I never found the head.

I have it laid out but there were some parts were it wasn't being held down very well and some other parts where it wasn't as close to the coop as it probably (obviously) should have been. I could see where whatever it was tried to dig in several places around the coop until it found a place it could get in though.

And yeah, learn from my mistake.

You think raccoon or weasel?

Seems like a raccoon would have done more damage to the birds.

Regardless, it still sucks.

I think you're right about the raccoon, I would have thought the same. Could it have been a possum? Do they kill or just opportunisticly eat?
