Mom2 I can steal some of this if you want it...
I just transplanted some myself... we will see if it holds up okay
It does not look so good after being walked on

I'm not positive because it's hard for me to see the leaves, but looks like sedum.

It looks like, even if I throw in the excuse of going to my brother's place in Ferndale which he has been begging us to come see, it is still at least another hour and a half of driving. I would go if it were just me, but I think it may be hard to pull off with - OH OH WAIT, Raz, would we maybe be able to get some hops off you this weekend if we came? DH may be more willing to go the extra length if there were some tangible point, especially if it got us closer to brewing beer from our own hops.

A² may be more reasonable if we can't make it, as long as Nigellas doesn't mind having Mom2's plants dumped on her... although I am still a bit foggy on how they get from Nigellas to Moms...

Holy crap its been a minute since I've been on here!! I haven't had ANY free time for a while, with my 2nd externship and my new job. I hardly sleep lately, but today was my LAST exam, and my last time in class! Very bittersweet. I loved being in school this time and became good friends w/a bunch of my classmates so it'll be sad not seeing them all the time now. But Friday is graduation and then I'm done yay! (Still 2 board exams today, but one thing at a time.)

The chickens are getting pretty big, they are 14 wks old this coming weekend, and they are still fun to watch. Oh yea, and BOTH my Wyandottes are roos as it turns out. One has been crowing for a few weeks now, and the other one just started about a week ago. Figures! So at this point I'm just trying to watch them as much as I can and figure out which one is a better roo and which one is a dinner roo. The one that has been crowing longer has really started acting roo-ish, while the other one not so much yet. But thus far I like #2's personality better. We shall see.

How's everything going with everyone here? I've missed you guys! Every time I wanted to come on here and chat, it would end up being late and I have barely been sleeping as it is so I've not logged on. What's new? Any interesting things I've missed?

So after the almost 1 hour on hold this morning which I then hung up on and a few hours later a second phone call with only 10 minutes on hold and talking to 2 people for another 40 minutes, my Net10 phone is again working. Someone keeps changing my zipcode, they claim can't be done by them without my authorization. Heh. think again people, this is the 3rd time!!

But it's fixed for the moment, then I got a call from the Net10 division I emailed in between phone calls and asking if my issues were resolved yet. I said, well you've called my cell phone, obviously it's resolved. Any questions? Yeah, why does this keep happening? All I could get out of her was it's a system error and they're working to resolve the issue. And there's a note added to my file for no one to change my zipcode!!!

and "thank you for calling Net10"

Looks like AT&T would be my best bet in switching to another prepaid plan, lousier phones, but more cell towers in this area. Still, hope I don't have to switch, didn't have any problems like this for the first 3 years I've had them.

On a good note, my 24 surviving chicks are doing great. My 22 9 week old chicks are doing great, guess they aren't chicks any more though. and my 2 and 3 week old guinea keets are doing great.

And Michigan strawberries taste great, too.

I have hops, Juise.
I also have yeast. Three kinds that your DH and I can divide. California Ale, German Kolsch and Champagne. Plus I have honey from last year that is a bit cloudy from being cold over the winter. It is still good, both for eating and brewing. We (meaning your DH) can discuss the fine art of brewing if you come.

Maybe we should brew a batch...

If you're giving brewing lessons, count me in! Can you throw in honey bee lessons while you're at it? You know, we don't ask for much. LOL!

Nova - Roger is looking so much better!!

You guys sure make me feel self conscious when I post and everyone stops talking...

Anyway, thought I would share what I just finished cleaning up, just in case anyone thought they missed having little kids. I know I should never go to the bathroom, but sometimes I just can't help it!

Oh my! I remember those days.

My chicks arrived at 5 pm!

The Post office in Saginaw sent a van all the way up here to deliver them tonight rather than send them on the morning truck which they always do. I can only assume it's because they happened to get 4 other orders for the area as well. The gal had one more delivery after mine over in Lincoln. I had to yell for DH and scramble to finish getting the brooder back together. I'd been cleaning it. Dang but this old broad can move fast when she has to.

24 of the chicks are doing great. One was cold and listless, got him in a hospital box with his own heat source and I'm trying sugar water with a dropper.

Oh hey, he's standing up! I'm still not expecting him to survive but you never know.

I miss mine being tiny little fluffies! I'm assuming your cold one didn't make it? What kinds did you get?

I think Uggos would be extremely difficult to age. When one sees baldness you automatically start thinking old.
Next time try and remember that feather shuckin' a bird isn't done while the thing is still breathing.

Yes for eating, they are a tuber. They also flower after the first frost, like sunflowers. I'm just south of Mackinaw City if your going through and want some let me know.

Opa - you are saying cold at 45. I went out this morning and it was 47 and I thought how nice and warm it is this morning. Opposite ends of the state. I did look at the week ahead 73,74,75, 90.... out of nowhere.

Is $5.00 a high price for a laying hen (vaccinated) just under a year old? Someone wanted to buy a few from me and though that was too high. I didn't even get in to telling them what I have paid for chicks and hatching eggs!
I would say $5 is a steal! But I also paid $5 each for silkie chicks that I have no idea whether they'll give me eggs or just poop and noise.

Certain says come to mind that seem to exemplify that principal. Many can not be used on this forum but one that comes to mind is when Momma's not happy no one is happy. Wow, the mere thought of one person having that much power.
In this house if Momma's not happy she gets a glass of wine and goes and hides till her pissy mood passes.

Somebody is nesting in the propane tank cap! I'd think it would get too hot in there, being metal and all. So we'll see soon enough whether these become itty bitty baby birds. I actually haven't seen the parents, so my guess is a robin?

I vote robin eggs too.

I decided to kick my 7 week old RIR and BA out of the banty shanty last night...again...for the 3rd time....

They actually figured out how to fly up to the roosts on their own. The older chicks really don't pay much attention to them, never have, but they are so scared! I found them huddled in the corner of the poop board this morning. I am keeping them locked up in the coop for a couple days to "re-home" them. I'm hoping they'll integrate okay. They are so much bigger than Waffles, who is 4 weeks older than them and they are just stepping all over the banties. We'll see how it goes!

Raz do you have a skunk now? How cute!!!
Thank you.
The skunk is attractive too.

I'll bet we could do a mini-brew at Chickenstock.

I've done seminars for garden groups about the benefits of bees. Raising bees is a great hobby, but starting out is rather expensive. However, after the initial expense, it not that bad as long as you have healthy colonies. I enjoy talking about bees and educating people to how wonderful they are.
