At work...last night for a while!

Olive - How very sad about those dogs and their trainer. I hope they find Toby.

Raz - Well, it doesn't sound like the meeting went horribly so I'm going to stay hopeful for you!!

I need to be stopped...I'm getting a Cukoo Maran from Robin at CS. Lol!!!

Lately we have had sightings between the barn and the house of some baby skunks. They seem to be about the size of Raz's baby, Sebastian. Last night all three of them were headed off across the street. I have not smelled their typical odor at all, and no one has seen the mama skunk.

They seem to be doing fine on their own, but is it normal that they are by themselves without mama ever around?

NOTE: tried to read all the posts that I have miss over four days ago and gave up.

Hi Everyone and any newbie that has come along, been so busy with my chicks getting them outside and comfy. The coop seems so big for them right now. I am bring some of my chicks with me to Chickenstock I just have one problem which ones to get rid of, I want to keep them all but I don't have the room. They will be six weeks old and I have no idea what most of them are I am just going to bring them and hopefully someone will know. I have several breeds several of each, they are a pullet rainbow group of chicks hatchery choice.

PS I think I need to change my name to "The Chicken Wrangler" after catching them in the 4 X 4 foot brooder and then letting them loose in the new run just to catch them all over again to put them in the coop. Guess what chicks won't just go in the coop on their own on the first day, hahaha. I caught all 28 of them though. That must have been a funny sight, I needed a cold shower after that.

Quite the storm that rolled through here last night but now everything is bright and fresh. Should be a good morning to get a little yard work done and take care of the few weeds that are attempting to rear their ugly heads.

I've one flower bed that needs some work and I had really been dreading working on it. At first glance it appeared that poison ivy had taken over on corner. I was going to tackle it once a little cooler weather had returned. Poor Hope was pulling weeds for a friend and didn't realize that a lot of it was poison ivy. As a result she is suffering the effects. I was going to avoid that by wearing surgical gloves under some cotton gloves that I would throw away. When I went out to plan my assault I discovered clusters of five leaves not three. Further checking reveals it to be Virginia creeper. A pain to get rid of but at least I won't be itching and scratching afterwards.

Last weekend I noticed they had Virginia Creeper for sale at the garden center... $10 / pot!!! I could be rich.

I sure wish we would get some rain here. Yesterday looked promising but we got about as much moisture as overnight dew.

Good Morning Michigan!

I haven't been on here in ages, but it looks like you are still a chatty bunch of peeps! It was fun trying to catch up. I've been scouring Craigslist and Best Farm Buys, but thought I should go straight to the source.

We had a raccoon visit the other evening, before I locked up the coops, and I lost a FBCM pullet and two Indian Runner ducks. The issue now is that we have a single duck. And, as you can imagine, a most unhappy duck. She was already a little unstable, as far as high strung Runners go. She's trying to hang with the chickens and is getting roughed up by the rooster. It's stressing everyone out. Does anyone on here know of any ducks (not ducklings) available in SE michigan? I can only find ducklings for sale. Our girl here is 9 weeks old. We're looking for females, not drakes. If you, or anyone you know, has a duck friend you'd like to rehome, could you message me? I'd be most appreciative!

On another note, I have a French Black Copper Marans cockerel who is looking for some ladies of his own. If you want him, he's yours!

Thanks for your time and help. Enjoy this beautiful day!

Awe, so sad about your ducks Henny. I just got rid of my last two girls last week... They'd be about 6 weeks now.

It looked promising for rain last nite. Looked. Nothing. Oh well, the grass will be slower to grow I guess. I only water the garden.

it was still in the low 80s at 9 last nite. Jace and I decided to jump in the pool. So, turned on the deck lite, went down, and the neighbors are out. Bummer. I had to wait for them to go in. I don't have a swim suit, so I swim in boxer briefs. I am covered, but still, they don't need to see me in my small clothes. So, its dark out, its after 10 before we finally went in. And that's only cuz a skeeter landed in my eye!

anyway, goat go to work. Hope my friend Joe and his wife had their baby...

It sprinkled here on and off all day... We got 1 or 2 real good showers going but not a good soaking.

BF has chicken-itis!!! He says... "These (uggos) are cool, but I like the more natural looking chickens. I want some with different colors..."

Just called my daughter and she hears chirping in the bator and so far one BWA egg has pipped! As many times as I've done this you'd think I'd plan the hatch better so I would be home
