How's egg production with the Sussex, Jen?
Not too bad. Definately not like a RIR or high production breed, but they do pretty well. I am having issues with the weather jumping around effecting thier laying. I also just got rid of my 2nd rooster because the hatch rate was down a little because if one roo mounted a hen the other one ninja-chicken-kicked him off LOL They lay decent sized creamy to light brown colored eggs. I just love them....but I do miss my RIR's....I need more coops...(SHHHHHH! don't tell the husband I said that!)

LOL! Your secret is safe with me.

I want a fat, thick, old-fashioned looking hen with good production and medium to dark brown eggs. I'm having a hard time finding one that fits the bill.

It's getting there! Next course is some colored glass tile... Hope to get it finished by Saturday.
This is the first time I've done a shower and it's going pretty good I think.

They are cute Jen. Beautiful color too. I actually like the way that chick looks.

I have just the kind you want Olive. Cuckoo Marans. The hens are nice and plump and lay dark eggs.
