DH and his uncle have gotten rid of 3 coons so far, more to come tonight. Sad for the coons, but that was a nice roo they killed. Plus, my chickens will be next if they have their way. Windows on the camper coop have been being shut at night, just in case they try to scale the siding. :( My birds can smell the coons, or heard the roo being massecred, because they won't leave their fenced yard. Any other time they love to go off pecking in the woods, but things are quiet and subdued here lately.

Found out what attacked my feral bunny, it was an owl. uncle recognized the signs at once. Holes in the neck and at the backside. He's not to spunky, but still drinking good, so no one wants to shoot him just yet, giving him a chance. Gets much worse and he'll have to be put down. :( He is still giving me a trusting look, not one of help, so crossing fingers.

Chicks i hatched from my hen are getting big! Looks like i may have an even 2-2 ratio of hens, course the one with the red and blue is an obvious roo.... of course! But i may keep him for a backup, being that his (real) momma is so docile and his daddy is half docile we should have a winner. So far naughty Plucky hasn't terrorized any of the little roosters, or the chicks. Broody is bringing them around now, to meet their "king" and accept treats, lol. He seems visibly giddy over the new interactions, lol. Big goof.

:welcome Brandi!

DARON, EMU PICS NOW!

I did not see this post until just now, but aren't you happy with the sneek preview that I showed you at CS?!

Griffin and Ann- Yes! I got a pair!!! :celebrate I had them DNA sexed from a shell membrane.
They are a month old now, and Griffin is almost 2 feet tall! :th Little Ann is half of his size, I think that is cuz she hatched out of a small egg. :fl But, they run soooo fast! They come running when I call them, and follow me around, while I am doing my chores. :love

:woot I have 4 baby Peacocks. :celebrate

I got 7!!! :celebrate I will post the the pictures tomorrow.

I just took similar steps against the bi-polar guy on the other side of me.  Came home from CS to find that he both cut and sprayed Round-Up on my veggies, herbs and trees. I reported the act of terrorism to the local authorities.

I guess he is off his meds again. He also threatened the guy on the other side of him. I don't know about some people.  :idunno

 I just can't believe that! So sorry about that RaZ.

Hello friends,
I have not caught up on the posts yet! But RaZ, I am sorry about your neighbors and glad for what you are doing locally for chickens and nature.

I saw a few chickenstock photos and I look forward to next year. Nova got some pretty Uggos!
Mom2 has a lovely bunny/Clover!

My children are enjoying their Grandparents/Aunt/Uncle/Cousins. We are very far away from you, in a small town in Austria.
That is where my husband was from. The plane tickets are brutally expensive but once here we are glad we came and the family is very nurturing!

NO MEGA FARMS HERE - they are outlawed!
Small farms are the norm. All the animals here are on grass, Milk and eggs are brought to one location in each town by anyone with a bit of land and then those who live in apartments come to the same location and buy the milk and eggs. Gardens are in the yards and the people are robust and healthy! Our family has 2 steers, a milk cow and a garden.

Of course the food tastes fantastic. They don't eat a lot of chickens. More beef and pork.

No airconditioning and many things I love like recycling and energy savings. The people here pay $6 per bag for each bag of trash that they have picked up but they are not charged for anything that they can recycle.
Blessings, Nancy

Quit whining, some of us down-staters are planning a ride up North and how many chickens we can fit in saddle bags.

the ad was removed. I missed it.
Babigyrl22's husband is named Robin plus they had a young man with them named Robin. Good name lol
well thats even better- she was sitting there in a group with a pig on her lap, having a great time laughing and talking with a group. Pigs are good icebreakers.
Getting tired and gonna turn in...... Hopefully tomorrow won't be so eventful for me!!
I sure hope your neighbor doesnt give you anymore trouble. Good luck.
I'll share my neighbors with you. Heck, I'll even give them to you. How many you want ???
yesss.gif
I dont want your crazy neighbors- I have enough- I was thinking of sharing my neighbors with the one that fire seems to follow

Well, I've officially crossed the border into crazychickenladydom. I changed my phone ringtone to Chicken Impossible. I carry my phone in my chicken purse. My hubby doesn't want to be seen in public with me any more. http://www.zedge.net/ringtone/156971/
I loved your purse!!!! I think it would be hysterical for your phone to go off while in your chicken purse..

Pretty soon Mi will have to change it's state bird to an Uggo!!

Kimmie......It literally cracked me up when she told me that and she had that look of "What on earth am I doing here?" lol

Dh came in from locking the the chickens up and brought in a late egg from the box....3.5oz / 98g It's definitely large and I can't find my chart where I log sizes! Dang it, it's written down someplace in my binder but for the life of me I can not find it.
idunno.gif
Sue why are you keeping track of the egg sizes? What else is in the binder of yours?

After a run to the feed store yesterday for supplies, all the new birds are all settled into their seperate homes (for now). I needed to get hanging waterers because they were making a mess with the regular ones. We found these on sale at FFH and they work perfectly:

I really won't need my incubator anymore. All 4 of my original bantams have decided to brood. I kick them out of the nest boxes every morning. My frizzle has ripped out all her feathers again.

She is NOT cute bald.

I should take a picture of her defiant butt tonight so you all can see to see her shenanigans. You would think she was molting...NoOOOOoooOoo...she did it to herself. :: mumblegrumbles ::

who had the enormous jersey giant at chickenstock? I need a picture please :D
My son does, right now I am rooster sitting he is in my dogs kennel crowing right now, it's so funny because the crow is very low and not loud at all compared to some other roosters I have heard. He sleeps and rests in the dog house. Poor guy he has to see the chicken run on one side of him, he just watches the little pullets and the other young roo. I have meant to post some pictures of him, been so busy with all my new birds and of course yard work that never ends. I will get pictures of him today and post them. He's a beauty all right and a really nice rooster.

I got home from CS and put my new pullets with my three week old EE's and one of the EE's which I know now is a roo is picking on all the new birds really bad he tries to keep the other 3 EE's away from the new birds I finally had to take him out, out of the brooder that is put him the small brooder had to put in one of the other EE's because he was crying like a baby. Now I have two roo's to get rid of. Dang.

WOW! It was nice to meet so many wonerful people at CS! I made so many new friends that will last a lifetime. Since my DW decided to go she (who hardly gets on the computers) wanted to read evry post since we left there! I could sit here and thank everyone but I really want to give a shout out to OPA, GRANNY, and HOPE! You guys were amazing! OPA - yeah UCHYTIL is strange screen name - it's my Grandpa's last name who was an old time lumberjack in Oregon. You-ka-tell.

I looked thru the pictures and saw some maple syrup I made being held - hope you enjoy it! I rehomed one bunny and brought another home. The food was fantastic (I'll be asking someone for the corn/bean salad recipe). I have so many trips to plan to see some of my new friends. Well, I guess I could ramble on about how much fun that was, and how many new friends I made, but work calls.

P.S. There were some excellent ideas posted about introductions, assigned tasks, holding it twice a year, cost to rent an area. I'm totally onboard with all those ides and it would be great to discuss them further if there's interest.
You-ka-tell, love that name now that I know how to say it, lol. I wanted to show you a picture of my ACD, the I want to eat those chickens monster. You should have seen her with the Jersey Giant rooster. I really wish I wasn't so crazy over the chickens that I didn't notice what everyone had, I would have loved some maple syrup, some honey from Raz, boy I just wasn't with it that day.

Tommie and I last winter

I can never get her to put her ears up when I have the camera she just acts like I am killing her by taking pictures, lol

Tommie sticking her tongue out at her ball, hahaha

My Rustee Boy who went over Rainbow Bridge in January, I miss him sooooo much!

Remember if it's not a Cattle Dog it's only a dog, lol
