GOOD EVENING!
Whew, what a crap day it started out... Migraine hit me, so I ended up in bed for several hours. Finally it is dulled down to nearly normal. Still sucks.
I got the chicks in a bigger enclosure with in the run. The little space they had, well, they were not happy, even though it had only been a few days, they were NOT happy. What was so funny, the polishes were trying to figure out how to commit mutiny and escape. They've already learned that if I am whistling, I have something good to eat.
My weird colored brown hen... This one...
Well, she has insisted that she's a candidate for hatching eggs out. I haven't let her have eggs yet, but I think I might give her 3 eggs from Snow Bunny. I think those eggs from her are probably fertilized by Rod Stewart since she has only just started keeping with Roger since the little dinners went to camp, and Rod made a point of getting in to get her every chance he could. Rotten bugger. Well anyway, they'd be silkie/cochin x silkie. SO... Now, think she'd be ok raising some silkies? they'd be 3/4 to full... depending on the whims of the egg. LOL.
I got to start my lawn mower up today! OH YEAH! Ok, so I had to mow around the veggie boxes... BUT I got to mow. LOL. I am sure my neighbor was wondering what the heck was I thinking, my grass is mostly dormant in the yard. LOL. Well, that area is the only place it is lush and green. It took all of 10 minues. I also took out the weeds that were growing in the brown lawn... I set the blade at 5, so, second highest position so I wouldn't damage anything. I also mowed down the over reaching/spreading snake grass. This year it choked out the Irises in no time. I need am going to cut a bunch of it out and transplant it around my mailbox I think. I hated not seeing my irises choked out. To bad the dang chickens don't tear up that... Nope... but the neighbors chickens took out one of my hostas that is at least 3 feet high and about 4-5 feet around... They also took out the pachysandra I got from Juise. That totally bummed me out. I keep it watered though, so I am hoping it'll come back in next year. He did offer to replace it for me. When I told him how much it cost, and not to worry, crap happens, he about lost his jaw. HEHE.
I also got the yard cleaned up. It was starting to look like a dumperellaville. I swear, boys can find the dangdest things to play with and drag all over. Man... I used their sled, pulled it behind me and by the time I was done picking up the stray bottle, bowl, lid, wood piece, fence piece, broken toy... the sled was full. Man, what a great invention.
Well any way, I have another question... I have a serious flea issue in the house. I have a fish tank, so bombing is kinda sorta a problem if I do not seal it up well before bombing. I have feeder fish in it that have grown beyond feeder status. This thing is probably just about 7 inches long... Living 2 years now. Well anyway, I got that spot treatment for the dogs, and not the cheapo stuff, even though the neighbor says it works just fine for his girls, but the fleas are just still horrible. I didn't treat the yard this year because I was worried if the chickens got over the fence, which they do, they may be poisoned. SO anyway, aside from constantly bathing, is there something else? What have ya'll found to work best? I am thinking I may have to take Argus for a shot they are bothering him so badly...
