I have four midget white turkeys 2 males and 2 females. The other day I witnessed them mating successfully but I have not found any eggs yet. Can anyone with turkeys give me some ideas? We did have a tractor but they have outgrown it so they free range now and sleep in the barn at night. They are about 10 months old now. Thanks!

It might be too early for turkey eggs. If the turkeys are free range, you might never find the eggs. They are exceptionally clever about hiding a nest.
thanks

My Midgets free range, but they tend to use their nest boxes. The turkeys got put into our old camper this winter after I did a little gutting. I kept the upper cabinets, but removed the doors. Then I took the curtains and hung them over the cabinets I wanted them too use. They love them. Sometimes I find 4 girls in one nest box while the other three are spread out in other ones. They also have two others that they just like to go into to wait until they can go into the ones with curtains. They love their curtains! I'm wondering who they are voting for.

Look for darkened areas or watch them during the day. If you see one running off away from the others that's the one you need to sneakily follow. Then set up a nesting area and put some fake eggs in it. Show it to them and it won't be long before you find them laying eggs there.

My Midgets did a bit of practice before they began to lay. The girls were squatting for me constantly and the toms were playing bumper bellies trying to get on top of them. Now that they are laying well the silliness has quited down and rarely do I even see them mating. Seems they decided to take their bedroom behavior elsewere. Well that is unless someone new is around and then they go crazy. Don't you just love those silly little Midgets?
