Midnight Majestic Marans color mutation?

This year I bought three Midnight Majestic "Marans" (MMM), BCM x barred rock hybrid pullets at my local feed store. One of the pullets has the featherless feet, which I know I'd common, but also has a dark comb. Her comb is blackish gray in the shade and almost mulberry in the sunlight. The other two are "standard" for the norm when you think of this hybrid. I was wondering if this is a common feature for this hybrid or a mutation received from possibly one of the parents this pullet came from. Thanks!

P.S. her legs are super dark as well.

That would be known as “gypsy face” or a mulberry face. It’s caused when a bird has extra melanisers and can happen in any breed, but is especially common with cross breeds. I think that barring hides this pigment, but when the barring is taken away, you can see the extra pigment, like when I crossed a Dominique and an Ameraucana.

Awesome! If I threw her in with my Ayam Cemani male I wonder if it would have any effect on the skin color of the chicks from the two. Is gypsy face hereditary?

They would be fibromelanistic because fibromelanism is a dominant gene. (The same color as the Cemani.)
Gypsy face is hereditary though it is somewhat sexlinked, so unless you breed for it it will only show up in females. It can be spotted in Sumatras and Brown Red Modern Games. It is different from fibromelanism.
