I was curious.
I live in NJ - Fall is migration time for the raptors, etc.
Any experienced chicken owners see your flock being disrupted more during this time?? Please let me know. I am trying to come up with a few ways to deter any hawks, eagles, falcons.

I live in W central NJ It's a little early for the fall migration, but when it starts

. I am in the process of getting rid of my pigeons because I can no longer fly them without significant losses. I used to be able to fly birds from mid April until mid September. This year I have had a constant hawk problem. To answer your question, YES these migrating hawks are hungry. Many are young birds uneducated and unafraid of humans for the most part. I have had them hit my aviaries within feet of me. It is not unusual to see hawks hanging on my aviaries or walking on the tops of my lofts when these hungry buggers are migrating. My greatest problem is with Cooper's, and they will not hesitate to take a chicken far larger than themselves For me it's a no win situation.
