R.I.P Agnes. What killed her?

Woah thats insane!!!!! I don't believe we have them in the US..or at least yet...until some random exotic pet breeder in like Florida releases a few and then TA DA we have hedgehogs roaming around everywhere 😭 😅
We have them here in the Netherlands too. They're much faster than you'd expect.
I'm sorry about your Agnes, as others said, she looked so sweet. How old was she?

Do the hedgehogs kill chickens? Or are they just like a pest issue? Thank you for the kind words. She would have been 2 years old when she passed I believe.

Yes, a friend of mine had footage in her coop of a nightly lethal attack by a hedgehog. It's not very common though; maybe it had rabies. But that's when I saw how fast they can be, that really surprised me.

They aren't generally considered a pest, in the UK at least. They will eat things like frogs, mice and small birds when they're able to catch them but they mostly eat insects - including slugs and caterpillars, so gardeners like them and want them around! I can imagine one eating a small chick that had got lost and cold, or a chicken that was already badly injured or very sick, but I'm really surprised to read that someone had a European hedgehog attacking chickens in their coop.

Here's one I helped care for a few years ago.

I'm very sorry about Agnes, too. Apologies, I should've said that before but I somehow managed not to notice what thread I was posting in.
