(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Of course I have seen and petted chickens before, but I never had chickens. I always wanted to have them though.
My whole adult life I’ve lived on a flat, but now I have a garden. And so there is finally room for chickens!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

None, but that’s going to change soon.

(3) What breeds do you have?

We are going to look at some bantam silkie chicks this Monday.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

I don’t know yet, but I love to look at chickens and to interact with them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I am into arts and crafts. I love knitting, crocheting, beading, drawing and a lot more. I also play several instruments and I like to cook.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am a 45 year old woman from the Netherlands, I am married for almost 20 years now and my husband and I have 4 amazing children. One of them is still living at home. A cat and a dog also belong to our family.
I used to be a copywriter, but I’ll start as a content creator for a lovely small business soon.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I was scouring the internet for every bit of information there is to find about taking care of chickens, so here I am. ◡̈

Here's our Learning Center full of articles written by members that should be very helpful to you regarding raising chicks and chickens. There's a coop forum in there too. If you're going to be building one, there's tons of coops in there that members built. Some have great instructions as well.
