Mild wry neck, one small pupil and now blindness in the eye?

My 18 month old Olive Egger had a sudden onset on wry neck on Fri night (1.5 days ago). I added a poultry vitamin to their water. And her wry neck seems to have completely resolved.

But today she is acting very off and I noticed that her left eye pupil is very small and is not dilating. And she doesn't seem to be able to see out of it. She's acting skittish and not scratching around and just sitting in the run.

Looking back at pics/videos looks like the small pupil coincided with the wry neck. But she was acting normal the past 2 days even with the wry neck.

Any thoughts on what's going on?

I dont think it's head trauma or anything. I was sitting with them on Fri when her wry neck began.

Have you ever had Marek's in your flock?

Have you added new birds recently?

Hard to know what's happened there. If she had a neurological episode and the eye is now pinpointed, then she may be suffering from Marek's disease.

If she's able to eat/drink and move about, then I'd monitor her. It won't hurt to offer supportive care through vitamin therapy for a couple of weeks. Give her 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily along with a little egg.

This is my first flock. I just have 4 girls. 2 of them are vaccinated for Mareks. My Olive Egger and another bird are from a different breeder and I do not believe the are vaccinated. But no new birds have been added and I’ve had these girls since chicks.

I have Vitamin E 400 IU with Selenium coming today and will give her that along with the vitamin water.

She‘s eating and drinking ok. Just moving slowly/ cautiously and not preening or scratching the ground like they all do.

Are there other reasons she could have had sudden onset of wry neck and blindness? Can The pinpointed pupil return to normal?

How much Selenium is in that formula you have coming?

I have no idea if the eye can go back to normal, it depends on the cause. All you can try is vitamin therapy.
Seeking an Avian Vet's care is always a good idea too.

One of my girls went blind from an eye infection a "livestock vet" treated her with steroids for. She's completely blind now, but still functioning for over 5 years. Marek's vax doesn't prevent them from getting it, either. Just keep a watch and if you do find an avian vet, make sure they also work with exotic animals. Most avian vets I know have either killed or maimed my girls because they know nothing about chickens. (except my one who is also an exotic animal dvm and works with birds every day) Good luck and I hope she's ok!
