Besides the diet factor you will find different breeds of goat have very different milk. Our toggenburgs are bred for cheese production and their milk is much thicker than the Sanaan.
Often times you find the buck being around is not the issue with goaty flavor. The milk not chilled fast enough or poor practices in the milking area will give you a very bad flavored smelly milk.
Our bucks run with the herd year round and we have never had an issue because of it.
