I have a two year old blue India hen and yesterday she was acting funny not walking around with the rest of the peafowl and today she will not come out of the best barrel I have set up for them and when i took her out she had a milky white poop and as soon as I walked away she went back into the nest box
Bring bird into warm room (90-85 degrees is ideal)
Give thorough exam, which includes checking the inside of vent of birds that are of age laying age. Visually check for mites, lice, bruising, cute, wounds, fractures, nasal discharge, bubbles in eyes, oddities in mouth. This may sound strange, but I also use my nose and check for odors around the face. One should also listen for abnormal respiratory sounds.
Weigh
Inspect poop
Almost all sick birds will be dehydrated, so once warm I tube warmed fluids at 15ml per pound. Wait 60-90 minutes and tube again if crop has cleared or almost cleared.
If I suspect the bird doesn't have long to live I will give a shot of Baytril at 20mg/kg in the breast. Other drugs I use often are Corid, Safeguard and metronidazole.
When was she wormed last and what did you use?
has she laid before Like this season or as a 1 year old?
How long have you owned her?
Do you know what the egg stance looks like , if so did you notice her stand this way any time before she went to sitting in the barrel?
I've had her since right before Christmas and have not wormed her she has never laid an egg before and she never was doing the egg stance she was just laying in the box and around the yard
