mill feed vs commercial feed like nutrena?

Price difference shipping and packaging costs. The local miller I have makes a feed with more fines which I do not like. Freshness should not be assumed, read run date on bags. You can get old or fresh, regardless of source.

I prefer fresh milled feeds, but I'm also picky about the recipes, in the end it all depends on your goals. Go with what works best for you.

They do have a truck route but I don't know where they run to. Checkout the Fetrell website if you find a dealer near you, they'll know where to get good feed.

Wasn't it you that had a problem with a mill selling "fresh milled" feed that was made from 2-3 year old grains?

Yup. That is always a risk and why it's important to get to know the folks who make your feed.

Yes. And they are a Fertrell based feed producer. Been trying for months to arrange for them to put feed for me on their truck and meet them at a truck stop they use but no luck yet. There is an Amish farm not far from them that's not certified organic and is much less expensive that is also Fertrell based. It's a 2 1/2+ hour drive for me so I haven't been able to get up there to check it out.
