Hi there. It's been a while since I've last posted but I have had some problems recently. My Mille fluer hen seems to have injured here left leg. Long story short she and her "sister" were inseparable best friends who did everything together. The sibling died out of the blue a month from today. She became sad and then the next day started not using her left leg very much. I hoped maybe she injured it and it would heal. A month later and no change. She can eat drink and skips around the yard so she is able to live and can roost at night with the others. She is not using her toes on the injured leg. No sigh of physical injury though. She can fly remarkable well and gets around fine. She is never picked on. Do you guys think she will be ok using just one leg. She is about 6 inches so she is small. Her flocks mates are silkies

Sounds like she’s getting along pretty well! Does she have bumblefoot? Could you post a video of her walking and a picture of her leg and the bottom of her foot?

bumble foot? is there any swelling, redness or scabs on the bottom of the foot?

scally leg mites? are the scales abnormally red or rasied up?

any swelling, bruising or exsess redness along her leg?

could you get pics of her legs? the bottom and a side pic of the leg? and also possibly a video?

I would Google Mareks disease, and see if that sounds like what she is doing. Mareks is a virus, and it can cause a number of symptoms, but usually paralysis in one or both legs or wings, imbalance, and a lack of immunity are some signs. It is possible that the chicken who died last month could have had it as well. There is a test that can be done if you lose her, by the state vet who can perform a necropsy. Are her toes curled under? It never hurts to try some poultry vitamins, in case of a vitamin deficiency. Place her close to food and water in a dog crate, and keep her comfortable. Keep an eye on her and make sure that she is getting enough to eat and drink. So sorry that you are dealing with this.

Oh my I hope not mareks desiese. I will continue to watch for symptoms she can move her leg just doesn't use it very much she stands on one leg kind of like a flaming and skips around. She has been like this for a month no major improvements except for adapting to the injured leg. I can get pictures and videos tomorrow. Thank you for all the help. In this photo she's the small one on the ramp

They are 10 months old I know it mainly infects younger birds. No one else shows symptoms she's been like this for a month. And if it is the dishes the others would have already been exposed so maybe they have built an immunity

Here is a photo of her with her flock and here is one with her holding up her leg
She is on the ramp so it's looks an illusion do to the anghle of photo took but she is holding up her left leg
