Ok so i have cochin hens and Im getting a mille fleur roo, what will my chicks look like? Will the mille fleur come through?? I have 2 blue hens and Im getting a birchen, I also just got 2 pullets, one looks like she will be white, the other is black with alot of white on her face neck and chest with a little white in her wings, hoping for silver laced any thoughts?? Am I just going to have ugly mutts chicks, should I just keep with my little black cochin roo? Oh and I have a little black frizzle hen too

with those colors being topped my a mille fleur, you'll be alot of black based birds with a bit of red/white specking... the white = no idea what you'll get. Birchen would probably make more mille - ish looking offspring.

You will get alot of crazy colors, none will be accepted coloring because mille fleur isn't perfected yet and thus non standard. Sounds like it may be better for you to hold off on the Mille Roo, or get your hands on some mille fleur, calico, or buff and white colombian girls for him.

The roo is not cochin, he is D'uccle Im not looking for show birds just fun pretty birds but Im having second thought on this. I dont want to take away from my cochins beautiful plumage. They are such cute little birds. So i think Im back to looking for a nice cochin roo, maybe something mottledor splash. Any thoughts on what color I should go for with my girls? I have my little black roo and think I want more color in my flock. Anyone looking for a D'uccle roo? lol

You have black and blue hens, go for a blue, splash, or mottled rooster.

a d'uccle roo would definately produce way off type cochin cross babies. D'uccles have much different body and feathering than a cochin, so you would come out with alot of narrower bodied and narrower slightly upright tailed offspring and not the wide cushiony look of a cochin.

If you are trying to create a Mille Fleur Cochin, the last thing you want to do is use a D'uccle. Maintaining Cochin type should always be your foremost priority; plumage pattern is secondary.
