mille fleur d'uccle

What a beautiful bird Buck Creek!! My little roo is progressing as well but still does not have spots all over yet. I really love the tips of the tail and can't wait for my little guy to molt!! Are your birds really sweet and laid back too? Just curious, of all our birds, the Milles are so docile and super sweet!

Yup, Its the one pen that I allow a young child to retrive eggs out of, none of the hens or the roo will go nuts or attack they come up, watch and talk to who ever is there.

That's so good to hear. I was hoping their temperament would stay docile. The roo loves to be held and scratched and one pullet in particular would rather be with me than the rest of her flock, she is so sweet and cries when you don't give her attention. Kinda sad really but I give in!

My understanding (and this will be my first year showing at our local fair) is that there is a section for roos/hens (over 1 year) and a section for cockerels/pullets (under 1 year). If entered as the latter, then concessions should be made for the lack of spangles, since they don't start appearing in earnest until after the first molt. There's really no way to tell what they'll look like as adults - you always hope for the best! - but yours look like very nice birds at their age.

Nice muffs, nice foot feathering (that I can see) and starting to get the spangles. If it were me, I'd enter them, and talk to the judges as much as possible about their quality. That's the best way to learn about the standard, and what judges are looking for!

You have very pretty babies!

Thanks for posting a pic of your rooster (who is a very stunning little guy) so I can see what they should look like. I hope mine looks half as good as yours when he grows up.
