Milled Feed question

For those of you who get their feed from the mill, what all do you have in it? How did you come up with the ingrediants or did someone at the mill help you? We are way out in the country and I have several mills around. I just want to make sure I go in there somewhat informed.

Here's what I used last year.

As you see, it is a 800 pound batch. Any good feed mill will be able to figure out different batch sizes. I feel very fortunate to have such a great feed mill locally. I drive past it everyday, so it is very convienent. If I call today, I can pick-up the next day most times. They have custom recipies for all types of feed, including chicken feed with no soy. I am considering trying a no soy batch of meaties this year, and have also been considering trying a no soy layer ration.

Hope this helps.

I really don't know what is in the protein additive. It's a pre-mix concentrate. All I know is that the mill I am using carries Kent feeds.

I buy a 1/2 ton at a time. It's 750 lbs corn, 200 lbs protein, and 50 lbs oyster shells. Right now to keep the price down they are using distillers mash from the local ethanol plants instead of ground corn. The distillers grain is alot stickier and I have been having problems getting it to flow out of my bin. But the chickens really seem to like it. I am getting eggs from the '09 hens daily and most of my old hens:)

Wow, thanks for all the quick replies. I am also looking at soy-less feed as well. I want to do this for my layers as well as my broilers this year.

I am going to look in to the soy-less, but if it is double the expense, then I may not go for it. I will price it out and see. Do you guys only do this for chickens or do you have ducks or geese that you feed as well. We want to add a few turkeys this year for ourselves and maybe 1 or 2 for family and we want to try some ducks and geese for meat as well.

I was looking into these recipes at my mill

Broiler Layer
Ground corn 31.5% 30%
Cracked Corn 19.4 20
Roasted soybeans 30 31
Crimped oats 11 11
Sea-lac 3.6 -
Nutri-balancer 3 3
Lime 1 5
Kelp meal .5 .5

But after seeing the way the cost jumped up with the Nurti-Balance and the Sea-Lac and I trying to look at other recipes as well.

And these would be feed to them from start to finish. Any thoughts
