I posted earlier about Millie and wasn't sure whether she was just cold or had an impacted crop..still not...but her crop seems a little smaller. She still is just sitting though, and is a little wheezy. She is breathing kind of hard. Her poop is just white..and she is drinking water, but doesn't seem interested in anything else. I think she may not make it.

I feel awful..cuz I should have just left them in their little cage and not taken them outside. She either got too cold or ate something she shouldn't have, and it is my fault.

She is inside and I have a heat lamp on...but she just sits..and sleeps and breathes hard...

I guess I will just have to wait and see.

shemarie.....you are doing the right thing....keeping her warm is the FIRST thing...just make sure she is not too warm. Maybe put some sugar in her water, for a little boost! Is she eating and drinking?
Dont blame yourself.....it happens. Good luck, and keep us posted on her!

I have the lamp over to the side and she is under it...so I don't think she is too warm...she is staying under it. I put some ACV in her water...I will try the molasses or sugar. She is very weak..she can't stand...I think she is probably not going to make it..but I will just try to keep her comfortable...and hope for the best.

Well, Millie died this afternoon. I really wasnt' surprised...she just flapped a little bit and went limp. She had some gunk around her bill...like she was trying to throw up..so I think she must've eaten something she couldn't digest...along with got too cold. I feel really bad..but at least she didn't suffer for very long.

Awww, Shemarie....I am so very sorry to hear you lost Millie.

Could have been sour crop? Are you going to get a necropsy done to make sure it was nothing contagious to your others? If you do, let us know. Again. I am so sorry!

I was reading, and I am pretty sure it was sour crop...plus a chill. From what I have read that can come on if they get too cold cuz they just don't move stuff through. And I am sure she got some grain..which she wasn't used to...so pretty sure it was a combination of things. Penny was outside today and she is doing just fine...I think Millie was just enough younger she couldn't handle it I guess. Live and learn.

Hi there. I'm so sorry to hear about Millie. I am getting so attached to our little chicks that are just 5 weeks old now.
I live in your area and it's been chilly. My daughter took our chickens out today for a while and now Athena, our favorite is a little sneezy.
How old was Millie? What kind of chicken was she?
