Millions of chickens fed tainted pet food

Just imagine if they wanted to tamper with our food supply what they could have done under our noses again........

I can't help but continue to be very disappointed with the overall security of this country.....

I have been following this pretty close as I am in Indiana. I made a couple phone calls this morning. One to the manufactuer of the feed I use and was told that they only use U.S. grown products in all their products. I use Kent brand feed. The second call was made to Purdue University here in Indiana & was given the phone number to the State Chemists Office located on campus & was told that they can test pet food for the Melamine. So I would suggest anyone in question on their feed get the number to your State Chemists office & ask them if they will test.

Spotted Crow, I see you said you feed the Blue Seal brand & if you go to Kent Feeds web page you will see that they list Blue Seal as not being in any recall. I would say Blue Seal is also made by Kent Feed. The lady I talked to was in Iowa.

What was kinda funny about the call to Kent Feed was that I asked the rep. where she was located & she said Iowa, ok, then she asked me where I was from & I said Indiana. Then she asked me where in Indiana & I told her close to Indianapolis & she said how close? Then mentioned the city that I work in. Come to find out she is from Indiana. It sure is a small world.

Is there an actual list of poultry-feed brands effected by this crap?

I love how US govermental folks try so hard to bend over backwards to appease foreign countries over their "Trade"... we have to fit such a list of criteria to get approval to export our food-products overseas! But do the other countries have to reciprocate??? It seems the Chinese involved with this just thought they'd send their trash here for American's consumption! They posted a request for Melamine scraps so they could add it to the gluten for pet and meat-critter food to increase the "protein number" in the resulting feed? Anybody read that stuff?

I caught that in a news article yesterday... but I forgot which one...

"It is time to grant the FDA and other food safety agencies clear mandatory recall and inspection authority," she said in a statement. "These initial steps would help create a modern, comprehensive food safety agency that will be capable of protecting our food supply and restoring consumer confidence."

You'd think we would have done that 5 1/2 years ago....along with securing our borders....

I just opened a bag of Purina Layena when the whole chicken thing exploded. I just went to the following website for Purina and it says none of their livestock/poultry feed is involved in the recall. Here's the address:
www.purina-mills.com Don't know if anybody can believe anything anymore!!! grrrrrr

so thats why the cost of chicken and turkey had gone through the roof at the store! Ill have to admit, I havent been watching the news lately.

Fortunatly it seems that the bag of food I opened not long ago seems to be ok.
