What is the min amount of time I should keep my hens in the tractor after bringing them home for the first time. I want them to free range but have read you should keep them in the tractor 8 weeks min so they get used to their home before leting them free range.

I kept mine in the coop for a week before letting them out to free range. As long as they know were home, food, and water is they should return at sunset every night.

I would say five days to a week. Then if you wind up having to chase them down in the evening, lock them up for more time.
It's best to start letting them out just a few hours before dusk. That way they don't range too far before needing to go home for the night. As they get good about returning to their tractor/coop, you can increase the time out.

At least a week, they have to get used to 'home' so they'll know where to go to roost.
