Mineral Oil On Eggs for Incubator????

I was wondering if anyone here uses mineral oil to coat their eggs before going into the incubator?

I know this method is used for preserving eggs for up to a year for eating.. But I am curious if it helps the eggs or harms them when used for incubating?

I have a friend who washes the bloom off all her eggs when she collects them, she then coats them in mineral oil because she says it helps the eggs incubate...

So curious about this!?

I've never heard of this before at all. I never wash hatching eggs, just make sure they are clean to begin with and don't set dirty ones. I'm afraid the mineral oil would interfere with the shells ability to breath, that the egg would not lose enough liquid and the chick would not get enough oxygen. I'm curious to hear if someone here actually has experience with this.

That's exactly what I though! I don't know why but she swears by it!
